With the reopening of cinemas in Australia (and the upcoming reopening in Victoria), we thought it was time to rank some of the most productive cinematic snacks.
HOYTS and Event Cinemas have recently opened their doors to the public, and while the studios might not be releasing a stack of new films, there is still much to see (including some old classics).
No cinematic delight is complete without a Candy Bar, with something salty as a necessity to start things (often followed by something sweet).
For the one on this list, we’ve included food and beverage features like ‘snacks’.
And if you’re unhappy with our picks, well, that’s tough luck, but hopefully there are no arguments about #1.
Now, you may wonder what authority I decide from this list. Seven years as a movie worker. That’s what it is!
Here we go:
They both have the same consistency, so we’ve grouped them on that list. Both are the right choices, and Twisties is clearly doing well, as there have been some pretty outlandish flavors over the years. Burger rings are also greatly underestimated in my opinion.

It is quite worth thinking that Pods is a Mars product logo that has been introduced in Australia and has gone from existing to being a staple of the pastry market. Mars-flavored pods are a pretty fake selection of movie snacks.

This will surely cause the Debate of Peanut vs Crispy (because in reality, who opts for the normal of the old M in those days?). The Peanut M-Ms are quite fantastic, however, since my time at the cinema, Crispy was the most popular snack.

The pinnacle of the pods, which combines the benefits of the biscuit with the chocolate and some delicious Snickers inside. A pack of Snickers Pods is guaranteed for any movie you enjoy (sorry, Twix Pods fans).

This may be such a debatable selection on the list, but salt and vinegar chips are among the underrated film snacks you never regret having in your hands. Just make sure you are looking to restrict cracks during silent scenes!

The superior Crispy M&Ms are a party favourite, and also perfect for any cinema sesh. Just make sure you’ve got a bag to yourself and ignore the joke of a ‘portions per packet’ advice on the site.

The humble Frozen Coke, also known as Frozone, is a flexible but film supplement. The good looks lie in the fact that you can sip almost the entire film, while icy goodness melts in the way.

‘Ya jokin’ should’ve been higher!’ I hear you cry. To be honest, this could probably have been in 1st or 2nd spot, but Maltesers have probably suffered from their versatility here. The top two spots have been reserved for the most traditional of movie snacks.

There is no shame in the moment that comes on this list, and it would also have been to release all the new flavors of Choc Tops those days. Perfect, it doesn’t matter if it’s a hot or bloodless day at the movies, whether you’re a vintage vanilla scent or more adventurous with a salty caramel flavor.

While many items on this list can be reproduced at home for a smart and outdated insertion transmission service here and relax, there’s nothing to compare to fresh popcorn.
The best amount of salt, sautéed in dough, in the bathroom and in the hands. This is the best way to start or end any movie.
Plus, it’s so versatile. Some like to climb Maltesers, others like to bathe. I’m no one to judge. Do it yourself!
