A world-famous beach will remain closed during the summer for fear of landslides.
The beach is the second most photographed place in Greece, after the Parthenon in Athens.
Navagio Bay, in Zakynthos, also known as Zakynthos, is known for the sinking of the HV Panagiotis which ran aground in the 80s after running aground due to weather conditions and poor visibility.
At first it was feared that the shipwreck would ruin the reputation of the beach and the island, but this made it even more popular.
However, for the second year in a row, tourists will not be able to access the beach due to safety and security considerations raised last year amid continued seismic activity and landslides. The Greek government has asked to fix pictures and continues to explore its options.

In September 2018, 7 tourists were injured after a landslide on the beach. Among them was a 34-year-old Czech woman who suffered a fractured vertebra. The beach closed immediately until April 2019 and then reopened with restrictions.
Then, in 2022, a landslide occurred following a magnitude 5. 4 earthquake between Kefalonia and Zakynthos.
Previous attempts to delineate the invited zones failed due to a lack of good enough patrols, according to then-Professor Ethymios Lekkas, head of the country’s National Earthquake Planning and Protection Organization (OASP): “We cannot rule out further larger landslides. A twist of fate would be disastrous.
Boats will be allowed, but swimming near the beach will be prohibited. Access to the cliffs, which stand out for their panoramic views, is also prohibited.

The mayor of Zakynthos, G. Stasinopoulos, said last year: “Hundreds of people already stop at the wreck every day to see the sights, but unfortunately there is no security. “
“Unfortunately, lately we’re seeing tourists passing the precautionary symptoms and ending up on the edge of the cliff,” he continued. “They cling to the edge of the cliff. . . We scream that they are going to kill other people. We can’t mess with the protection of guests.
The closure is especially devastating for British tourists, who stop here more than any other nationality. The island is popular with young British partygoers, thanks to its many clubs and bars that generously hand out loose drinks. According to Party Travel Hard, pints can be bought for just £1. 77 and hangover breakfasts can be grabbed for a similar price.
Tripadvisor has been inundated with frustrated reviews. In July 2023, one of them said, “I wanted to see the most beautiful beach in the world. Disappointed, you can’t walk or swim there anymore.
While the reviewer said in August 2023, “You can’t land on the beach in case a rock falls and kills you. “
Greek Tourism Minister Vassilis Kikilias said at the time that he was “the last person” to need the beach closed: “But we have to pay attention to the experts. It would be remiss to continue otherwise. “
