Award-winning American singer-songwriter Justin Townes Earle has died at the age of 38.
The news was shared Sunday in a message posted on Earle’s official social media account.”It is with wonderful sadness that we inform you of the passing of our son, husband, father and friend Justin,” the message says.”Many of you have relied on your music and lyrics over the years and we hope that your music will continue to advise you on your travels.We’ll miss you so much, Justin.”
No cause of death was reported without delay.
Earle was born on January 4, 1982, the son of country star Steve Earle and Carol Ann Hunter.It is named after his father Townes Van Zandt’s friend and fellow musician.Earle has struggled with sobriety in his life, which he spoke of brazenly in The Morning Edition in 2008.
Their first EP, Yuma, released in two hundred7, and the following year released their first feature film, The Good Life.He won the American Music Association’s Emerging Artist of the Year award in two hundred9 and the 2011 Song of the Year Award for “Harlem River Blues”.This song came from their third studio album of the same name, which was their highest debut on the Billboard charts two hundred at age 47.
In total, he released eight full albums. His last, The Saint of Lost Causes, released in May 2019.
