Around town: Fundraising for culinary and vintage creations Monday for pediatric cancer research

The National Pediatric Cancer Foundation is a two-part event on culinary creations and vintage cars in Irvine on Monday to gain advantages in pediatric cancer research. The foundation’s celebrity chef and culinary ambassador, Katie Chin, will co-host the event with Ted and Rae Segerstrom. .

Chin will lead a cooking demonstration at 3:30 p. m. Monday at Middelby Residential Showcase Gallery, 186five0 MacArthur Blvd. , Suite 10five, Irvine. After the afternoon event, the Segerstrom will host a 5:30 p. m. reception. at 8:30 p. m. at the Segerstrom Shelby Event Center, five Whatney, also in Irvine.

Tickets for any of the occasions can be purchased at nationalpcf. org.

Book lovers of all ages are invited to come Saturday, Oct. 1, to the Donald Dungan Library in Costa Mesa, where the site’s Friends of the Libraries store will hold a fall sale throughout the store from 10 a. m. m. to 3 p. m.

All books will be discounted and buyers will be able to see a table where the titles will be presented for 4 for $1. Adult fiction, non-fiction, bestsellers, coffee books and children’s books will be priced at 50% off. Specialized books will also be presented at generous discounts.

The Donald Dungan Friends of the Libraries bookstore is on the first floor of the library, 1855 Park Ave. , Costa Mesa. County Supervisor Katrina Foley is a sustainability summit with Orange Coast College on Wednesday, Sept. 28, nine years old. m. to 1 p. m. at the OCC Planetarium, 2701 Fairview Road, Costa Mesa.

During the roundtables, local elected officials and climate experts will focus on the effects of climate change in Orange County and explore tactics for the coast, homes and the coastal economy.

The Hyundai Hope on Wheels 5K and Color Fun Run arrive at Fountain Valley Sports Park, 16400 Brookhurst St. , this weekend.

The 5 km run and hike will start at 8 a. m. m. on Sunday, followed by Color Fun Run at 9 a. m. m. $15

The night before the race, luggage will be collected from 4:00 p. m. to 7:00 p. m. On Saturday, El Mas Chingon’s food truck will serve tacos. There will also be music and games on site, as well as inflatable structures for children.
