So, let’s explore this artistic pioneer’s inspirations, her design philosophies, and the incredible adventure that brought her into the public eye. The secrets of Arya Giri’s ordinary good luck on the massive level of Paris Fashion Week were revealed in this verbal exchange with Bollywood Hungama.
Could you introduce yourself and tell us a little bit about your adventure in the fashion industry?I am an artistic visionary and entrepreneur. I was exposed to weaving communities from a very young age, thanks to my royal lineage. I try to revive traditions and create an area for global cultural perspectives on identity. I graduated from Lasalle College of the Arts in Singapore with a bachelor’s degree in Media. and the fashion industries.
Having contributed to two books published under the direction of the former president’s additional secretary, Pranab Mukherjee, he worked under the direction of Senator Hirai Takuya in the Japanese National Diet; and interned at Fuji Xerox Singapore in the marketing department, at Ogilvy and Mather Bangalore, and more, to leverage my varied reports and apply them to the thriving trajectory of my business.
Can you tell us about the inspiration that presented your collection at Paris Fashion Week? The inspiration for the collection, like most of our collections, came from my introspection about how we consume and analyze our understanding of culture and, consequently, our understanding of ourselves. . I had this seed of fascination coming from Tagore’s writings, through the evolution of the concept, that seed became our own narrative.
How do you find inspiration for your creations? Each collection embarks on a new odyssey of identity exploration through the lens of a diaspora character. The individual Arya Giri is majestic, incandescent, and effervescent. They put a price on quality, history, and non-compliance with standards. And because of that, a lot of the inspiration comes from eating the environment around us and introspection.
I have had the privilege of developing all over the world, and this has led me to have a multitude of reports similar to my understanding of the nuances of cultures, practices, etc. This fascinated me from a very young age and has now become the focus of the brand.
Is there a specific theme or message you would like to convey through your Paris Fashion Week collection? At the end of the day, this collection is roughly the breadth of a line. From the moment we came into existence, we are a line guy. As we move through life, written words, gestures, and the inner membrane formulate who we are, the “me. “
As we grow up, we are conditioned to draw barriers through our mistakes and bring them to life. This collection draws on Tagore’s writings to deepen the concept that accepting our mistakes will make us even more unique. The line becomes us.
Could you tell us about your artistic process, from the concept to the final show?As a maximum artistic process, this collection began several months ago as a seed of reflection. Giving it time to macerate and come to fruition in its maximum original format, we continued paintings on the history of color, experimentation with silhouettes, master classes in hand embroidery and experimentation with our handloom fabrics. As the pieces of the puzzle are compatible with each other, the collection begins to take shape. This is also an incredibly special collection, as it’s the first time we’ve tried accessories and shoes with hand embroidery as well.
What techniques and fabrics did you basically use in this collection?Everything AG focuses heavily on hand-looming and embroidery; Providing our hand embroiderers with a diversity of techniques recontextualized with fashion to increase ease of use. This collection is truly special as we have developed exclusive designs that employ ancient embroidery techniques on our specially woven linen satin in a beautiful mid-season story. Chocolate and moss colors. Using kantha, aari, openwork and other skillful hand techniques, as well as natural gold zari thread, we have created a collection that nods to the afterlife in a modern light.
How do you balance innovation and portability in your designs?I believe that, as designers, we are quick to believe that innovation deserves to be accompanied by a pioneering cut or taste. I think AG is special because we explore the concept of innovation through undeniable silhouettes with cutting-edge hand embroidery. Using old crafts and recontextualizing them with new patterns and approaches to construction. When you think of an AG piece, you’re imagining anything that you don’t have to worry about taste about and that allows you to add meaning to your everyday outfit and keep craftsmanship alive.
What was the most memorable moment of Paris Fashion Week for you? There were many, but if I had to pick one, I’d say the most memorable moment would have been when each style came back radiant and I walked into the crowd and maybe they saw that they were enjoying what they had just seen. It’s a glimpse into a moment that so magnificently culminates months of arduous thinking, strategizing, and building this arduous labor of love.
How did you feel when you saw your creations parade at such a prestigious event?I feel revered to have had the opportunity to show my paintings at Paris Fashion Week. More than that, I revere hearing comments from other people who may not expect to get your hands on some of the pieces and other people who like the main points of the collection.
Like most other designers, for me, design and fashion are not just about a given moment, but about what they constitute culturally. I can spend hours discussing those topics in any logo with such glee.
Did you face unforeseen demanding situations while preparing for the exhibition?Almost each and every presentation has to come with demanding situations and obstacles; It does the interesting thing.
What are your plans for the future? Any upcoming projects or collaborations you can share with us?We have so much in store that we’re excited to share with you!The advertising line for this runway collection, The Line Becomes Us, will soon hit shelves; We’re excited to share with you. And little surprises along the way!
How do you see the evolution of your logo in the coming years?Basically, I think this logo will evolve into an ever-growing network of like-minded Americans who are curious about culture, identity, and how we make sense of “things. “I would like us to explore a lot of means to communicate this to you and to become more and more available and available for the public to enjoy the paintings that we create. We are a global logo, so of course you can expect to see us all over the world.
Are there any express goals or milestones you aspire to achieve in your fashion career?A lot! That’s what keeps us going. The rate at which the world is increasing its acceptance and support for crafts is accelerating, but it is being outpaced by the rate at which craft communities are declining. My goal is to protect craftsmanship and ensure that techniques in a more fluid way are consumable. It is up to our generation to keep the arts alive, and this is my humble attempt to do so. I’d like to be global, competitive and at all times exciting for our audience, I guess.
What advice would you give to aspiring fashion designers who need to showcase their paintings on prestigious occasions like Paris Fashion Week?I would advise them to continue their craft, something we should never stop doing. Explore your opportunities and be intentional and meaningful in each and every decision.
How important do you think it is for young designers to place their unique taste and voice in the industry?I think it’s imperative for young designers to locate their taste and voice and continue to expand them. The purpose is to constantly grow, to ascend the format and effectiveness of how the message you convey reaches your audience.
