A pair of autographed Michael Jordan shoes are up for auction.
The sneakers, known as Nike Air Ships, were used before the popular Air Jordan in 1985, making them the first known second-hand sneakers used in a game by the basketball legend.
Jordan, now 60, once wore the pair of Nikes in game five of the 1984-85 NBA season, scratching his shoes to turn it off. It was only the fifth game of his professional career.
The NBA star then passed the shoes to local receiver TJ Lewis after the game. In the end, Lewis sold the shoes to Sotheby’s in 2021 for £1. 16 million ($1. 47 million), the sum paid for worn shoes.
Now, the signed shoes of length thirteen are indexed on Goldin’s one hundred rare collectibles auction website. The offer is £80,000 ($100,000), but is currently at £4,000 ($170,000). The shoes have been verified through MEARS, Resolution Photomatching and JSA.
Throughout his long career, Jordan spent most of his career with the Chicago Bulls. He won all six of his titles, but retired in 2001 to play two seasons with the Washington Wizards.
The basketball legend lately owns the Charlotte Hornets, located in the home of his formative years in North Carolina. He earns millions in royalties each year from sales of the Nike Air Jordan sneaker brand.
