Ridley Scott’s original sci-fi horror is terrifying. In fact, it’s one of the most productive horror videos of all time. Sigourney Weaver plays Ripley, a member of Nostromo’s team who intercepts a mysterious transmission from a nearby planet. The team makes the decision to investigate, but discovers an abandoned alien ship. When a Nostromo investigating officer, Kane, played by the wonderful John Hurt, steps forward and digs up an egg, a creature explodes and attaches itself to his face.

The rest of the team wonders what to do with Kane, but they don’t know much about the monster they invited aboard their ship. In fact, Alien is as terrifying a watch today as it was in the ’70s. Scott’s masterful direction ramps up the tension, while Weaver delivers his star turn as Ripley. It’s also worth noting that Alien: Romulus takes place between the events of Alien and Aliens, making it a must-see for anyone going to see Fede Álvarez’s new film.

Follow up with Aliens: The sequel that takes the franchise in an unexpected direction, exchanging terror for action under the direction of James Cameron. Some will say that Aliens is even greater than Alien, we will leave that debate for others. article. . .

After two fairly average Alien sequels, Alien 3 and Alien Resurrection, as well as two crossover spinoffs with the Predator franchise (more on that later), Ridley Scott has to revamp his Alien series with a prequel that delves into the origins. of humanity. . Prometheus feels less like an Alien movie and more like a philosophical look at what makes a human being human, which, at the time of its release, turned out to be a debatable choice. Fans were looking for more xenomorphs and less Michael Fassbender as an android butler.

However, Prometheus is an underrated gem, introducing an epic mythology to the series (you can thank co-writers Damon Lindelof of Lost and Jon Spaihts of Dune for that) and featuring brilliant performances from Guy Pearce, Idris Elba, Noomi Rapace, and Fassbender in Awesome Fashion. Terrifying shape. Also, since it’s a prequel to Alien, Prometheus also acts as a prequel to Alien: Romulus, making it a must-see. You can read our Prometheus review for more details!

Follow-up with Alien Covenant: Scott heard enthusiasts complain about not having enough intergalactic monsters in Prometheus and making a sequel that amounted to a collection of successful Alien moments, galore.

Alien: Romulus takes an old franchise and removes all the fat (read: sequels) to deliver a terrifying, standalone sequel. Does it look familiar? Prey fulfilled the exact same role as for the Predator films: necessarily a comfortable reboot of the series with a new protagonist, while still paying homage to what came before. In Prey, Amber Midthunder plays Naru, a member of a Comanche tribe who falls prey to an intergalactic monster.

If you like tense horror combined with a sci-fi hook, check out our four-star Prey review. The Disney Plus movie is the best addition to another franchise that has an exclusive relationship with the Alien movies. Dan Trachtenberg is directing and lately the filmmaker is making a sequel, a separate spin-off of Predator called Badlands.

Follow-up with Predator: We’re not talking about The Predator, directed by Shane Black, but rather the original Predator, directed by John McTiernan. A vintage of the genre, Predator remains one of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s action films to this day.

Release date: 2004

After the poor reception of the third and fourth Alien films, and with the Predator franchise inactive, Fox realized that there was only one thing to do: take a strange crossover comic from 1989 and turn it into reality. This is how Alien vs Predator was born. At the time, James Cameron was not satisfied that the series was going in such a temperamental direction and stopped being screened in a fifth Alien film while comparing the concept to Frankenstein Meets Werewolf.

Meanwhile, Ridley Scott had no interest and later admitted that he couldn’t watch the crossover, directed by Paul W. S. Anderson. Well, Scott misses a smart moment. Because once you forget about the flimsy characters and plot flaws, you get a stupidly funny and just plain ridiculous movie. Even Cameron came. ” I really liked it,” he said. I really liked it literally. “An overwhelming compliment, but a compliment nonetheless.

Follow up with Aliens vs. Predator Requiem: Someone really liked Alien vs. Predator Predator because a sequel has been created. It’s not very good. . . But if you’re looking for more xenomorphs, here they are.

Release date: 2013

Fede Álvarez has already become fond of the restart of prominent franchises. In 2013, the director brought Evil Dead back to theaters with a terrifying “reimagining” of Sam Raimi’s beloved classic. Like the original, Evil Dead is the undeniable story of an organization of friends who head to a cabin in the woods, find a haunted book, read aloud to an incarnation, and awaken an evil spirit bent on killing them. Just your weekend.

Alvarez removes some of the country humor from the low-budget original, infusing his edit with a sense of dread. In some parts, construction can be slow, but the result is a spooky passre festival that’s the ultimate treat. of exhausting terror. Jane Levy, who directs the film, will go on to star in Alvarez’s other brilliant horror, Don’t Breathe.

Followed by Evil Dead Rises or Don’t Breathe: The Evil Dead Rises is the perfect installment of the franchise, while Álvarez’s own follow-up, Don’t Breathe, demonstrates the evolution of one of the genre’s most engaging filmmakers.

Release date: 1982

After the good luck of Alien, Ridley Scott returned to the science fiction genre with his masterpiece, Blade Runner. While it doesn’t feature the same overt horror as Alien, Scott’s sequel presents a bleak future for humanity as Harrison Ford’s Deckard, a former police officer, bioengineered humanoid hunters, called replicants, to “retire. ”

However, his own ideals about what makes him human are being questioned. For those interested even in science fiction, Blade Runner is a must-see. But since this is one of Scott’s other seminal films, skip ahead to the Scott-produced Alien: Romulus. It could be much worse than searching for this influential classic.

Follow-up to Blade Runner 2049: Without exaggeration, it’s crazy that director Denis Villeneuve has directed Blade Runner 2049, a sequel that equals (and, according to some, surpasses) the original Blade Runner.

Release date: 2020 – 2022

Keeping with the theme of Ridley Scott’s wonderful work, Raised By Wolves is a beautiful creation of the filmmaker. Unlike everything else on this list, Raised By Wolves is a TV show. The HBO series, which consists of 18 episodes spread over two seasons, focuses on two androids who raise a human child after the destruction of the Earth.

If you see a summary of Scott’s paintings on this list, you’re not alone. There are echoes of Prometheus and Blade Runner in Raised By Wolves, which features spectacular performances by Amanda Collin and d’Abubakar Salim as the mother and father. Unfortunately, the series was canceled before production on its third season began, but that doesn’t explain why miss out on this deeply philosophical and action-packed story.

Follow up with Dark: This is another brilliant, long, confusing viewing experience. There are no androids here; Instead, expect time shenanigans and more existential questions about humanity. Dark is one of the truly brilliant Netflix originals.

Release date: 1997

Want to get into the temperament of Alien: Romulus with similar non-Alien movies?Well, there have been a lot of fakes since the original. Event Horizon, however, goes beyond most of them. Directed by Paul W. S. Anderson, the film begins with the appearance of the Event Horizon spaceship in Neptune’s orbit seven years after its disappearance. A rescue project is launched, but the new team discovers that things have gone very wrong aboard the Horizon.

When Anderson first read the script, he was worried that it would be too similar to Alien, as the shipment was being chased by strange tentacled beings. The filmmaker made the decision to update things, introducing a more mental angle and taking inspiration from haunted space stories like The Shining. The result was a particularly strange film that bombed at the box office and gained a huge cult following. There’s even been talk of a Godzilla vs. Kong Adam Wingard TV series.

Continue with Resident Evil: if you saw Alien vs. Predator and Event Horizon, you also jump to W. S. Anderson and watch the original Resident Evil, arguably his most productive film.

Release date: 2016

Another recurring director. Prior to Prey, Dan Trachtenberg directed 10 Cloverfield Lane, a spin-off of the sci-fi film Cloverfield that replaces the large-scale original with an intimate setting. Mary Elizabeth Winstead, John Goodman, and John Gallagher Jr. play three other people locked in a small bunker. Howard (Goodman) insists that they can’t leave because the air outside has been poisoned after an alien attack, something Michelle (Winstead) doesn’t believe.

Of course, the horror comes from other humans, however, 10 Cloverfield Lane stores Alien DNA by being a tense bedroom usually located in one location. Trachtenberg does an excellent job of keeping things at a quick pace, arriving at an unexpected conclusion. That, unsurprisingly, ties into the larger Cloverfield franchise.

Tracked through Matt Reeves’ Cloverfield: Monstrous Horror is produced by J. J. Abrams, which means it comprises many unanswered mysteries. While the uncovered images may be a gimmick, Reeves shows how rarely is what you believe more terrifying than what you see.

Release date: 1982.

An exclusive and secluded place. A fatal and mysterious presence. An organization in a position to be killed one by one. Yes, we’ve reviewed a few, but The Thing stands alongside Alien as the absolute pinnacle of this horror subgenre. In fact, it’s one of the most productive alien videos of all time.

John Carpenter directs this special-effects-laden mystery about the population of a station in the Antarctic area visited through an alien horror. Kurt Russell plays the charismatic R. J. MacReady, a helicopter pilot who needs to be somewhere else, while A. Wilford Brimley and Keith David are cast members.

Although it was a box office bomb since it came out at the time (ET gave everyone their alien fix that summer), The Thing has become a true classic, thanks to Rob Bottin’s glorious, horrific special effects.

Follow up with The Fog: This is another Bottin/Carpenter collaboration, this one about a mysterious fog that is an organization of vengeful spirits. Released two years before The Thing, The Fog also earned critical reappraisal, with Carpenter himself. calling it a “mini horror classic. “
