This year, Beyoncé used her influence on struggling Texans and leveraged ad campaigns to raise other black artists. In Beyoncé’s hands, fashion and music are much more than business or entertainment; they are difficult teams to treat delicately in reports from black Americans. That makes her a finalist for the Texas of the Year award.
