“Just like in Chicago, most of the shootings are young black men killing young black men. Isn’t it?” Maher asked.
After Loury proved this to be true, Maher continued, “It’s okay, much more than the police do. Why are there a hundred giant black celebrities, who would have the respect of those people, saying, ‘What are you doing? Why are you killing each other?'”

CHICAGO’S LORI LIGHTFOOT HIT CRIME PIVOT AFTER EVACUATION: ‘TOO LITTLE, TOO LATE’
Although Chicago Mayor-elect Brandon Johnson condemned the activities of criminals like the “Teen Takeover” on the streets on April 15, he criticized others for “demonizing” their violent behavior.
“It is too late for us to put an end to this momentum. Listen, demonizing young people is a mistake. We will also have to ensure their safety,” Johnson said in a speech on Thursday.
Loury criticized the failure of Democratic politicians like Johnson to deal with and manage crime well in their cities.

“To get the majority of the electorate from Chicapass, or anywhere else, to whatever is happening to charge them dearly, they want to feel safe. They will have to feel that the culprits are on their side. And that’s why Mayor-elect Brandon Johnson has to come in and give speeches saying it’s despicable behavior, we probably wouldn’t tolerate it in our city. The reason we have police is exactly to prevent this from being transmitted and if you do it under my supervision, you’re going to jail,” Loury said.

Maher criticized suggestions that more monetary investment in the city would solve the problem.
“One in three young people in the United States cannot read at a fundamental point of comprehension. 85 percent of black students have no talent for reading,” he said. “We’ve already spent a lot of money on schools. So, will they keep telling me that more effective will solve this challenge because I feel like it’s much more similar to the challenges of other people who can’t read?Yes, they’re going to have challenges with gainful employment, and it turns out that, you know, the answers coming from the left seem symbolic. It doesn’t seem like it’s about what you really want to do, which is to make young people learn, read, work. “

“It doesn’t look like money will meet that challenge if 85 percent of black academics have a talent for reading,” he added.
