BROWARD (CBSMiami) – Broward Sheriff Gregory Tony gave a virtual beating Wednesday, telling other countyrs that if they throw a big party, they’ll be arrested.
This is a component of an initiative launched through the Sheriff’s Office about two weeks ago to combat crime and reduce the spread of COVID-19.
“We had reached a point where more than 1,100 calls were made to the sheriff for the service similar to those calls,” Sheriff Tony said. “Things also happened with an incident called ‘traveling car clubs’, where a giant youth organization gathered and went to other parts of the community. They were collecting 20, 30, 40 cars and more.”
“This operation has been very in our ability not only to break the crime patterns we have seen, but also to spread the closure of COVID-19,” he says.
Sheriff Tony says thirteen primary components have been damaged in the last 14 days. As a component of the initiative, they also issued 260 subpoenas and made 25 arrests, with fees adding DUI and Grand Robbery.
In parallel with his office’s anti-fraud efforts, the sheriff says citizens also make their component socially distanding and dressed in masks.
As for the sheriff’s office, Tony says 286 of his workers have COVID-19s lately. This accounts for about 8% of your workforce.
Currently, 29 inmates have a coronavirus of approximately 2900. Sheriff Tony says these inmates have been quarantined and are following all protection and fitness protocols.
