CHICAGO (CBS) – The distinctions keep coming for Candace Parker, a day after she became the oldest player to achieve a triple-double in WNBA history when Sky faced and beat the Washington Mystics on Sunday.
Time magazine has now named the two-time WNBA MVP and six-time All-Star as one of the hundred most influential people of 2022.
Three-time NBA champion, Chicago local and former Bull Dwyane Wade wrote the access for Parker.
“As a fellow athlete and mother, I appreciate what she has done and how she has taken her daughter around the world as she plays to help her family,” Wade wrote in part. “His commitment is second to none, as is his vision: through his paintings as an NBA commentator, he gives me another way to think about the game. “
Wade added, “So many young people who look at Candace see how he lives out loud and achieves greatness. “
This comes after The Associated Press named Parker its 2021 Female Athlete of the Year.
Parker is for No. 3 in the WNBA name this season.
She and her teammates will get their championship rings last season ahead of Tuesday’s home game with the Indiana Fever.
