LOS ANGELES (AP) – A court granted Carol Burnett temporary custody of her teenage grandson, while the child’s mother suffers from drug addiction.
A Los Angeles Superior Court ruled Tuesday, granting Burnett, 87, and her husband, Brian Miller, custody of her 14-year-old grandson, Dylan West, until January 8.
They arrived here two weeks after Burnett and Miller applied for custody, claiming that their daughter, Erin Hamilton, had addiction problems.
Burnett said in a statement that the resolution was for “the health, education and well-being of the child and did not intend to deny him or his parents an adequate scale to each other. “
The judge’s ruling says Burnett and Miller can simply replace Dylan’s space and school until at least one hearing in January.
Hamilton, a singer, is the youngest of the 3 daughters of television comedy legend. Burnett has been married to Miller, a musician, since 2001.
Not without delay he returned an email requesting a comment sent to an Erin Hamilton representative.
