Celebrities applaud Kamala Harris’ selection as Biden’s formula companion

Celebrities celebrated former Vice President Joe Biden’s announcement Tuesday that she elected the Democratic opponent in the primaries, Senator Kamala Harris (D-California) as a vice-presidential candidate, making her the first black woman and the first woman in South Asia to appear on the presidential price ticket of a primary political party.

Singer John Legend tweeted his congratulations and said he is “eager to vote for the Biden-Harris price ticket to begin the difficult paintings of recovering from this nightmare presidency and building an even bigger future.”

Actress Mindy Kaling tweeted it was an exciting day for the whole country and “especially for my black and Indian sisters,” many of whom would possibly have no idea that someone who would “look like us” would do their job, adding that she “filled with hope and enthusiasm.”

Actress Elizabeth Banks tweeted her congratulations to Harris and included a GIF of herself “Woo!”

Singer Pink retwed a message congratulating Harris for being the third and the first black man to be named vice president and added, “True tears of joy here at the Hart house.”

Actress and singer Mandy Moore tweeted: “I look forward to voting for Biden/Harris 2020!”

Actress Whoopi Goldberg tweeted, “Let’s take care of her and make sure she’s her because she’s a career without frills and she’s ready,” adding, “Come on Kamala!!.

Model Chrissy Teigen tweeted her enthusiasm for selection and enthusiasm for voting.

Actress Sharon Stone tweeted, “I’m very happy for you and relieved and excited about our country.”

Basketball LeBron James tweeted, “I love watching and supporting it,” adding that he likes Harris.

Singer Lance Bass called Harris “the best vice president” in a tweet and noted that she is “hard and with a huge heart.”

Comedian Rachel Dratch tweeted a GIF of actress Maya Rudolph Harris on SNL and wrote, “I’m excited for many reasons!”

Maya Rudolph, who plays Harris on SNL, reacted to the news on an Entertainment Weekly panel and said she would be very happy to reprise the role.

Actor John Cusack tweeted a video of Trump’s reaction to the news, in which Harris is a “bad boy.”

Actress Debra Messing tweeted, “Kamala Harris will remain in the history books,” adding, “She’s the first black woman and the first woman of color to sign up for a primary presidential price ticket in the United States.”

Biden’s announcement comes months after he pledged to choose a woman to put him on the Democratic list. Harris is now the third female vice-presidential candidate for a primary political party, after Geraldine Ferraro, who was Democrat Walter Mondale’s vice-court in 1984, and Sarah Palin, who was the vice presidency of Republican John McCain in 2008.

“I have the wonderful honor of announcing that I have selected @KamalaHarris, an intrepid fighter of the little boy and one of the country’s officials, as a vice-presidential candidate,” Biden tweeted.
