Celebrity Chef to Open Qué Mas Beverly Kitchen Restaurant

BEVERLY, MA – A new restaurant will open Wednesday in Beverly from chef and “Chopped” finalist Alex Pineda.

An inauguration rite is scheduled for 4:30 p. m. for Qué Mas, which opens its doors at 114 rue Rantoul, in the former location of the Frank restaurant.

Pineda said the new dining spot will feature “modern Latin cuisine” with influences from South America, Colombia, Mexico, Guatemala and Peru.

Pineda is the son of Lydia Shire, owner of Scampo.

“I learned to be great,” he said. I’ve learned to be afraid. We’ve taken over the dining area formerly known as Frank’s, put our stamp on it, and we’re officially open this summer. “

The centerpiece of Qué Más is a display case containing cans of sardines from around the world that Pineda and Shire have been collecting for more than 25 years.

He said that the purpose of Qué Mas is to break through the barriers of what’s on the plate, how it’s presented and how the visitor feels after tasting it.

“The clever look of what we do as chefs is that the opportunities are endless,” he said. “I just need to cook smart food and laugh while I’m doing it. I think it’s simply because Latin culture is a laugh, it’s loud, it’s sexy, it’s beautiful, it’s vibrant, it’s smart music and smart food. “

The Bottle Shop, a committed wine and spirits store offering a variety of fine wines, spirits, craft beers and takeout market items, will also open Wednesday at the building at 112 Rantoul Street.

The Bottle Shop moves to what was formerly known as DeVille.

“We are excited to open The Bottle Shop as a place that brings great beverages and upscale items to the market,” said owner Alex Weatherup. “Our wine and spirits collection is growing every week, as is the retail offer and the products in the market. The world of wine is vast and can be inaccessible. We love helping creditors locate occasional and specialty bottles, but we also love finding the perfect ones. , each and every one of the bottles of the night.

“Simply put, we are delighted to have the opportunity to help you find what you are looking for. “
