Building on its reputation as a premium ocean cruise line, Celebrity Cruises announced a new offering, Celebrity River Cruises, a luxury river cruise line. The line has already ordered ten new ships to compete in the highly profitable river cruise market.
Although specific details regarding the ship design, staterooms, itineraries, shore excursions and pricing are unavailable, the new river cruise line promises “personalized service, world-class amenities, and unique itineraries” on the iconic rivers of Europe, suggesting a more upscale product than some competitors.
“Celebrity Cruises will bring the superior design and sophistication of the Ocean Ships series of the Edge series to the river,” explains the press release of January 28 of the company.
The Celebrity Edge series of ocean-going vessels is known for its luxury hotels and cutting-edge design. It includes cabin living spaces that can be remodeled on the verandas and a cantilevered “magic carpet” platform 16 overwater retail stores in an aspect of the Ship, which functions as a Helm. The dashboard earned a four-star score in the Forbes Travel Guide 2024.
