Raj Thakker and Trisha Vijay became smart friends after meeting on a Bollywood dance team in college, but neither knew where their dates were going.

Raj Thakker met Trisha Vijay as a member of the Bollywood dance team at the University of California, Berkeley, in September 2014. His first impression was that she wasn’t the type of user he would befriend.
“I’ve been pretty quiet and reserved,” Mr. Thakker, “when she was more of a fair, outgoing girl. “
But when the two teamed up to help organize a fundraiser for the dance team, they became temporary friends. They discovered that they were born in the same community in Fremont, California, Ms. Vijay grew up there, while Mr. Vijay’s family. Thakker moved to Saratoga, California. “I would help the other members of our team with their computer classes,” Ms. Vijay said. “I think it’s a very intelligent quality. He’s incredibly patient. “
Finally, in late 2016, Ms. Vijay’s senior year, they began dating. After earning a bachelor’s degree in economics, Ms. Vijay, 29, stayed in the San Francisco Bay Area and began working at Amazon, where she is now a senior. Prime Video Product Manager.
Thakker, 28, graduated with a bachelor’s degree in computer science the same year and is now a senior software engineer at Google’s YouTube.
