Today 30 years ago, the maximum preserved and productive skeleton of a Tyrannosaurus rex never discovered in South Dakota. It was named “Sue” by paleontologist Sue Hendrickson, who made the discovery. The fossil was sold in 1997 for $7.6 million, the highest amount ever paid for a dinosaur fossil, and is now a permanent feature of the Field Museum of Natural History in Chicago, Illinois. (1990)
In Minneapolis, after the murder of George Floyd, Lake Country School teaches how to make sense of the occasion with its students.
It was coVID’s time, so when they were together, hugging each other and each other’s eyes, they had to think differently.
The school’s principal, Ben Moury, took into account the children’s inclination for the herbs they need in a time of difficulty and bug fixes.
He encouraged students to sign up for thousands of other people on city streets by making symptoms and sharing images of their symptoms with the school community.
Mathias Brinda, a third-grader, made a massive sign with a quote from Bishop Desmond Tutu: “If you are impartial in conditions of injustice, you have selected the oppressor’s appearance.
Brinda’s circle of relatives hung him on the school fence, and they sent a photo showing Mathias’ condition through his sign, smiling and with his poodle. It’s May 28th.
At a school assembly later in the week, someone argued that the signal is no longer on the fence. They assumed he had been deceived by vandans.
But then the signal gave the impression when the New York Times posted this photo of the ongoing protest in Minneapolis. In front of a huge symbol painted by a bomb on George Floyd’s face, a guy in a black mask knelt, with his head bowed, the sign of Mathias.

Then he made the impression in the Atlantic. Three children, with their fists raised, held Mathias’ sign, the youngest being so small that his face could burst slightly, but still, his pride can be seen.

Two captive beluga whales were fortunate to have a better life when they were moved from China to a new sanctuary in Iceland.
11-year-olds like Little Grey and Little White had spent seven years performing for the public at Changfeng Ocean World in Shanghai.
But in 2019, thanks to the British charity Sea Life Trust, 6,000 kilometres around the world (30 hours by plane, land and sea) were released and transported to succeed in the world’s first retirement home for marine animal artists.
During the following year, the female couple has been treated in swimming pools on the island of Heimaey.
Now they have made the primary transition: on 8 August, Little Grey and Little White were moved to the open water segment of the beluga sanctuary in Klettsvik Bay.
This is the first time in years that beluga whales have swine in the ocean.

Cathy Williamson, who runs the End Captivity program at Whale and Dolphin Conservation, told China Daily: “The world’s first whale sanctuary represents a path to the end of the detention of whales and dolphins confined for entertainment purposes. We are proud to be a spouse in this vital task that will be the welfare of beluga whales and show the global that there is an option for the captivity of whales and dolphins.
The bay itself is giant, secluded and beautiful. With an intensity of nine meters and 344,445 feet wide, Little White and Little Grey have plenty of areas for swimming and exploring, playing and performing giant dives into the water.
Now that they’re in their new home, those two beluga whales have their personality.
According to the Sea Life Trust team, “Little Grey is a very playful whale. She’s curious and wants to be informed about new things. He also has a naughty look on his personality and likes to spit water on the animal care team.
As for Little White? She’s a little shy, but she “always likes to play and establishes ties with her masters.”
Andy Bool, who runs the Sea Life Trust, said of his move:
“We are sure to be thrilled to announce that Little Grey and Little White are now in their bayside care pool and will want little time to acclimatize to their new herbal environment and all the elements before their final release. In the largest sanctuary of Klettsvik Bay.

When a Colorado mother heard her 4-year-old daughter shout “Black Lives Matter” at a Home Depot woman this summer, she didn’t expect such a beautiful friendship to blossom for the couple.
Sherri Gonzales buying groceries in Commerce City when she heard a little woman say the words that were chanted on thousands of streets around the world this summer.
“He said it forcefully, as if he were making a point,” Sherri told KCNC in Denver.

The couple become friends temporarily and took a picture together. Cam then kindly invited Sherri to a sleepover, so the band exchanged numbers.
Since then, Cam and his mother have deepened their dates with their new friend. Recently, they organized a garage sale where they donated all proceeds to Gonzales’ organization, Sherri’s Girls Empowerment International.
Over two days, the sale generated $2,070, cash that will now be used to send women to school in Kenya.
“All this happens,” Sherri told KCNC, “because an adorable 4-year-old that my life mattered.
Friends have recently discovered something they have in common: a love for the Denver Broncos. Cam needs to be a cheerleader for them when it’s developing. Sherri’s son, D.J. Mr. Williams, you’re a former NFL team supporter.
The impressive duo’s new link only shows it: it’s never too early to start putting smart vibes into the world. And it’s never too late to make a new friend.

Who hasn’t dreamed of what he could earn in cash if he made billions of dollars?
A month after his divorce from the world’s richest man, MacKenzie Scott signed the Donation Pledge and promised to give it billions “until it’s emptied.” A year later, he revealed how he had acted on that statement.
When Scott officially broke away from Amazon’s founder and CEO, Jeff Bezos, in April 2019 and ended a 25-year marriage, he earned $38 billion as a component of the deal. According to Bloomberg’s most recent estimate, its net worth is now $60.8 billion.
On July 28, he revealed in a blog post on Medium what he was doing with some of his billions:
“Last fall, I asked a team of nonprofit advisors with key representatives of traditionally marginalized ethnic, gender and gender teams to help me locate and compare organizations that have a primary effect on various causes.”

Since then, 116 organizations worldwide have earned $1.7 billion in donations from Scott.
From the Black Girls Code to the reaction effort at COVID-19, each of the beneficiaries, Scott writes, “addresses complex and demanding situations that will require sustained efforts over many years, while addressing the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic.”
The Point Foundation, which grants scholarships to LGBTQ students, is one of the organizations that has benefited from this wave of philanthropy. Its chief executive told the Chronicle of Philanthropy that the charity had not been implemented for a grant and had no connection to Scott. The “very beneficial gift” won by Jorge Valencia and the team “was a gift that had just fallen from the sky”. He added: “Doing someone means a lot.”

Scott isn’t the only billionaire who promised to give his wealth before he died. The Giving Pledge, an initiative introduced about a decade ago through Bill Gates and Warren Buffett, was broadcast through 204 wealthy people, adding Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg and Airbnb co-founder Vrian Chesky. It should be noted that Jeff Bezos did not point out the commitment.
Several traditionally black schools have already won grants from Scott, in addition to Morehouse and Howard universities. If this first year of donations is something to do, partnerships committed to the climate crisis and the environment will also benefit from their billions, which have already earned $125 million, so far. In France, President Emmanuel Macron held a rite on July 27 to launch the meeting phase of one of the most complex engineering projects ever attempted through humanity: a giant nuclear fusion reactor, a device that can produce unlimited amounts of blank energy.
Better yet, it was built in collaboration through a consortium of 35 nations: China, India, Japan, Korea, Russia and the United States, along with the 28 states of the European Union and Switzerland.
ITER’s allocation of 20 billion euros comes directly from Marvel’s Iron Man films. Designed decades ago in 1985, the ITER, which despite everything introduced in 2006, has been delayed due to many setbacks, however, we are determined to create what would necessarily be a miniature sun on earth. This is the center of the sun on which nuclear fusion generation is based, a generation that, unlike nuclear fission, with traditional nuclear reactors, produces four times more energy than the threat of fusion and virtually no waste or leakage of any kind.
“Allowing the exclusive use of blank energy will be a miracle for our planet,” said Bernard Bigot, CEO of ITER. He said the merger, along with renewable energy, would allow transport, buildings and industry to run on electricity.
The ITER (International Experimental Thermonuclear Reactor) requires millions of other parts to be assembled in five years to create a reactor of more than 23,000 tons. Necessary for atomic fusion, 3,000 tons of super-heavy magnets will be connected, some of which weigh more than a passenger plane, up to two hundred kilometers of superconducting cables.

Construction is underway in Saint Paul-lez-Durance in southern France, and primary parts will arrive this year from China, Japan and other Member States.
When operational, portions will remain at -452F (-269C) through the world’s largest cryogenic freezer. This component is because the fuel, the heavy hydrogen atoms collected from seawater, will have to be heated internally in a super-hot plasma at 1500000 degrees Celsius, ten times hotter than the core of the sun, before the atoms can triumph over their magnetic repulsion and merge, hence the term “nuclear fusion”.

In photo shoots, the citizens of Spiritwood Assisted Living in Washington state have been recreating iconic posters of old films for more than two years. And the effects are guaranteed to put a smile on your face.
The concept of turning the elderly into Hollywood stars came to Jennifer Angell in 2018. She’s the director of community relations at Spiritwood in Pine Lake. Your mission? Combine fun activities for citizens with something concrete, such as raising cash for others.
Jennifer won gold when she arrived here with the “movie star” calendar.
“For more than two years, we’ve dressed seniors as Hollywood movie stars and Village Concepts, a family business circle that owns the seniors’ home, produces the calendars for us,” he told GNN. “Senior photography after makeup, combing and dressing. The largest 3-d published space ever built in Europe, a two-story business with two living rooms, a kitchen, a bathroom and a home, recently finished through the Belgian corporate structure Kamp C, greatly advancing the science of 3- Published Housing d.
Kamp C used a 32 x 32ft “gantic” printer, the largest of its kind in Europe, to create the hull of the two-story building. Using a special cement aggregate ejected from the printer nozzle, the paints on site lasted 3 weeks, and the structure staff added the ceiling, foundations, floor, windows, doors, plumbing and electric power by hand. A new generation of satellite examination maps shows that there are approximately 20% more emperor penguin colonies in Antarctica than thought.
Researchers reported this week how they used photographs of the European Comproject’s Copernicus Sentinel-2 satellite project to locate the birds.
They discovered 11 new breeding colonies, 3 of which were already known but never confirmed. This raises the census to 61 colonies across the continent.
Emperor penguins want sea ice to reproduce and are located in spaces that are very difficult to examine because they are remote and inaccessible with temperatures as low as -50 degrees C (-58 degrees Fahrenheit).
For more than 10 years, British Antarctic Survey (BAS) scientists have been looking for new colonies for their guano spots on the ice.
“It’s an exciting warning,” says Bas geographer Dr. Peter Fretwell. “The new satellite photographs of the Antarctic Sea coast allowed us to notice these new colonies.

The colonies are small, but the numbers increase the total population by up to 10%, to just over a share of one million penguins or about 278,500 breeding pairs.
Emperor penguins are known to be vulnerable to the loss of sea ice, their preferred breeding habitat, so knowledge provides a vital reference for monitoring the effect of climate change on the population of this iconic bird. With existing projections of environmental replacements, this habitat is likely to decline and penguin populations will simply be lost “in a prestige quo scenario, with uninsured greenhouse fuel emissions generating warmer temperatures.

The study also discovered a number of colonies up to 180 km from the coast, in the sea ice that formed around the icebergs that had appeared in shallow water, an unexpected new discovery in the behavior of this beloved species.

A wood carver who bought a box of stained glass at auction was surprised to note that he had unknowingly solved the 80-year mystery of his disappearance from a church in World War II.
Colin Mantripp, 63, bought his idea from a box of stained-glass fragments when he climbed it out, with the intention of using it to create original windows on their home-made doors.
But when he arrived in July last year at Roseberry’s Auctions in London to collect what was being sold as “a box of stained glass,” he was surprised to find an 8-foot-long, 3-foot-wide box that weighed more than six hundred pounds.
It was covered in dirt and was so big that it took six other people to send it.
“I just couldn’t see what I was seeing. I think it was an incredible amount of glass; was delighted, ” said Colin, of Bourne End, Buckinghamshire.
“For $300, I think I made a smart deal, and I didn’t even know his story. They are so magnificently made, which is generally at a time when attention was paid to detail.
After spending a few months restoring and cleaning the magnificently complex and colorful windows, he saw the words “St Mary’s” inscribed on the glass and was curious about the origins of the Victorian windows of the 1850s.
