David Byrne brings his Level American Utopia to HBO.
The network released monday the first teaser of its filmed edition of Byrne’s celebrated show, directed through Oscar winner Spike Lee.Lee filmed the recorded edition of the American Utopia Broadway race, which ran from October 2019 to February 2020 at the Hudson Theatre in New York.
The exhibition features Byrne and 11 other foreign musicians performing a combination of songs from his entire career, with his solo paintings (including his 2018 album of the same name), his time with the Talking Heads and a canopy by Janelle Mone.You, Talmbout.”
The successful exhibition originally scheduled to return to Broadway for a momentary edition this fall, however, its long-term plans are unclear as Broadway theaters have remained closed due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.Meanwhile, Lee’s film will be released in September as the opening.Toronto International Film Festival (which will become virtual this year, due to the pandemic).
