Sanders set a Colorado single-game record with 510 yards on 38-of-47 passes with 4 touchdowns, while Edwards had a total of 159 yards in the scrum and 4 touchdowns.
Hunter, who played the ball as a wide receiver and cornerback, had 11 receptions for 119 yards on offense and recorded one interception on defense.
Colorado and TCU couldn’t have been on opposite ends of the spectrum last season, as the Buffaloes went 1-11 while TCU went 13-2 and clinched the national championship of the school football playoffs.
Although the Horned Frogs lost several key players from last year’s team, adding quarterback Max Duggan, running back Kendre Miller and receiver Quentin Johnson, there was very little separation between the two groups on Saturday, drawing plenty of praise for Coach Prime. For a training task as vital as the one Sanders did on Saturday, he helped tremendously through the two-player play he brought with him from Jackson State to Hunter and his son, Shedeur Sanders.
Hunter stunned the school football world when he pushed back the top FBS schools to play Sanders at Jackson State, but he stood out Saturday in his first game on the big stage.

Hunter did it all Saturday, adding that he recorded a scoring interception by diving in front of what was a foolproof landing in the third quarter, and made a massive 43-yard reception in a fourth-quarter practice that gave Buff the lead:

As electric as Hunter is, Shedeur was just as impressive, going from FCS quarterback last season to lighting up the reigning FBS national runner-up in the first game of the 2023 season.
In addition to being accurate on pitches at all levels, Sanders showed incredible arm strength and calmly placed passes directly to his receivers during his deep passes:

He also excelled in situations, adding a 26-yard landing pass to Jimmy Horn Jr. with 7:36 to play to give the Buffaloes the lead, followed by the eventual winning landing to Edwards:

While it temporarily replaced the game at Jackson State, at the start of the 2023 season questions remained about how temporarily Coach Prime would replace Colorado’s culture.
The roster has undergone unprecedented changes, but it’s clear Sanders picked the right players to fight in his first campaign in Boulder.
Finishing with a record Array500 this season would have been a huge step forward for Colorado and while that would remain the case, expectations have already changed.
Given Sanders’ coaching talent and his team’s elite talent, the Buffaloes will have to be considered valid threats to win the Pac-12 this season.
Colorado will have a chance to do that next Saturday when it hosts Nebraska in the first home game under Deion.
