Disney child star dies at 60 as co-star remembers him in touching tribute

Christian Juttner, a beloved former Disney child star, has died at the age of 60.

Known for his performances in Return from Witch Mountain, I need to Hold Your Hand and The Swarm, Juttner died of herbal reasons at his home in Yucca Valley, California, on November 29 of last year. The sad news was relayed through his family, with his daughter, Aiden Juttner, sharing the announcement.

He is survived by his mother Marlene, his ex-wife Ann, his daughter Ryan, his son Lucas and his sister Shelley.

Juttner’s acting career began when he was just eight years old, appearing on a 1972 episode of Bewitched. 

Inspired by his mum, he quickly became a familiar face on television, with roles in popular series such as The Bionic Woman (playing Teddy in the first season), Wonder Woman, The Rookies, and Ironside. Juttner also appeared in two ABC Afterschool Specials and seven episodes of The Magical World of Disney.

As her career progressed, she attended Birmingham High School in the San Fernando Valley and found herself playing memorable film roles in her teens. In 1978, he played gang member Dazzler in Return from Witch Mountain, starring alongside screen legends Bette Davis and Christopher Lee.

That same year, he played Peter Plimpton in Robert Zemeckis’ debut film I Wanna Hold Your Hand and appeared as Paul Durant in The Swarm, opposite Michael Caine.

Juttner’s last on-screen role was in a 1981 episode of General Hospital.

After retiring from acting, he embarked on a new career by founding a glassware company with his father, John, in the Caribbean. His adventure on St. Croix led Juttner to found his own company in Santa Clarita, California. Her entrepreneurial spirit reflected that of her father, who also owned a beauty salon and an art gallery.

Following the sad news of his death, Return From Witch Mountain co-star Ike Eisemann paid a touching tribute. He said: “I’m sad to hear that Christian Juttner, one of my co-stars in Return From Witch Mountain, has passed away. He was an actor and one of the kindest people I’ve ever met. RIP ‘Dazzler. ‘” 

Fans were quick to help the Breieved star, with one commenting: “He was in several clever shows including Bionic Woman. I enjoyed watching him act. There is a quiet innocence to him but he can also be a mischievous child. R. I. P.  

“I’m sorry to hear about your friend Ike. My condolences. God bless,” penned a second.
