LONG POND – Not even a hurricane could stop the vibes of the Elements Music & Arts Festival, taking place Thursday, August 8 – Sunday, August 11 at Pocono Raceway. After this weekend in the Poconos, I can guarantee you that party culture is alive and thriving!
Music festivals are the trend for adults to take a break from answering emails, shopping, and of course, being adults. Dance like no one is watching, wear what makes you happy, and be yourself to the fullest – Elements is the definitive edition of all that!
It is the best playground for adults to play on for a weekend. Everyone is there to have fun! It’s about spreading love. This festival exceeded my expectations and sparked my imagination. I’ve never noticed anything like those exclusive art installations before!Everywhere you looked and walked, there was something to admire.
Each item-themed step has a perfect match for your calling! The largest, The Fire Stage, features a gigantic sun goddess with her hands outstretched and a DJ atop a pyramid booth. And on The Earth stage, I experienced a set under the trees with all the wooden structures, adding tree houses so I could see the crowd.
It wasn’t just the scenes that were stunning: I walked around and discovered a hidden gem. There were little art scenes at Vibe Village and awesome moving art (a cat, jellyfish, and turtle were some of the ones I saw!) that you can hop on and ride for as long as you want.
I did a lot of ooohing and aahing, pointing fingers and it was amazing. All the decorations and lighting were spectacular, colorful and unique. I swear, you might have a great time exploring this gigantic festival without even looking at a single stage.
But when it comes to the music itself, I definitely courted a lot!No concert is complete without the courtiers. It’s not an easy task, but someone has to do it. Plus, everything is danceable in one way or another! In the first set I experienced The Floozies on the Earth Stage, setting the mood on Saturday night as the sun went down, which was a fun and enjoyable way to kick off my show!
The outage took place at 1:15 a. m. on Saturday and I could smell the bass through the ground to my campsite.
After losing a day to rain on Friday, many more people than expected stayed for the final night, eager to make the most of the money spent on this mammoth festival. Subtronics’ Sunset Set was so popular that they had to lure other people away from The Water Stage (my favorite spot), and then Elements added a set for the artist later on The Earth Stage. The Disco Biscuits were other big headliners on the Earth Stage on Sunday.
I’d never heard of most of the other DJs I’d seen before, so it was a great way to get acquainted with new music and emerging artists. Barclay Crenshaw combined a funky drum and bass set on the Water Stage on Sunday. I loved it. But I think the most productive moment I had was the NHII set on the Air Stage on Sunday. That’s when I got on the moving cat to sign up for their dance party where everyone was living to the fullest.
And if you get bored of a performer, hop on it to locate the next scene! Every user I asked has another favorite position, which turns out to be the best match for what Elements Music is looking for.
I’m in my thirties and I’m in my freshman year of college aligned with the release of Avicii’s “Levels,” so needless to say, I’ve noticed a few festivals; emo, hip-hop, jamband, but EDM tends to be the favorite, and Elements at Long Pond the biggest I’ve ever been to. Pocono Raceway expected more than 18,000 participants.
As a self-proclaimed vacation expert, I feel like telling you that, in my opinion, camping is the only way to get the full experience. If camping overnight at a music festival was on your to-do list, write it down. Forgetting parts of the store, fixing the car window, and sharing snacks with neighbors are all part of the trip.
In Music Elements
For the most part, other people are good, and Elements reminded me of that. By sunset Sunday, all the security guards were checking bags at the door adorned with colorful charms, bracelets, pins and other small trinkets, all donated through friendly attendants. Who would have imagined that thousands of crazy people would repair my religion in humanity, eh?
The music is great, but the festival fashion is like no other. This is your chance to wear WHATEVER you want. I saw other people with almost no clothes and other people in full suits. All genders are encouraged to cover themselves in glitter, bracelets, clips, makeup and anything interesting, glow-in-the-dark or tickling LED lights. an outfit in your closet that’s too crazy for life. . . Well, you have to find a festival.
Although I laughed a lot at Elements, I would be remiss if I didn’t mention that next year there may be innovations, especially when it comes to the access procedure and unforeseen weather.
On Friday in Elements it rained because of the hurricane that caused an asylum on Saturday. Although some exhibits continued for those stuck there as of Thursday, no one was allowed to camp, enter or pick up wristbands at the ticket office. The closing of doors on Friday generated an influx of attendees who all arrived at the same time on Saturday, for which the occasion seemed unprepared.
Wristband pickup took place outside the concert venue, so visitors first had to pick up their physical wristbands at a hotel near Lake Harmony, where the line stretched across the parking lot. Once we picked up the wristbands, it took us an extra hour to get to Pocono Raceway due to heavy traffic. Once I finally pulled into Pocono Raceway, my car waited 3 hours to get to the campground. We arrived at the ticket office at 2 p. m. , but we didn’t arrive at the campground until 6:30 p. m. m. and we still had to settle in. Unfortunately, many participants and I wasted most of the first day waiting in line. It is clear that the staff were doing everything they could to make sure everything went well, but the place suffered the consequences of the unpredictable weather.
My walk from the general campsite to the main location was also about an hour, which discouraged the back and forth. I can definitely see why VIP is so attractive. My feet are killing me. . . and I’m a little out of shape too!
Elements is still about going green, which is a glorious concept, but in practice I think it’s a little more complicated. Merchants were not satisfied with money or cards because everything was connected to the bracelet’s chip. Although this made purchasing food simpler and we didn’t want to bring money, I had to walk all the way back to the campground to get enough service to download the app since there were thousands of people there. in the same position on your phone. Also, not having paper maps/schedules or any services is not a smart combination.
Although there were plenty of water refill stations, visitors had to bring a Camelbak, a giant Stanley Cup all day, or buy cans of Monster water (horrible, I know) from some bar vendors. Being eco-friendly is wonderful, but it’s also hot. , the walks are long and hydration will have to be a priority. Remember to bring your own mugs. I arrived unfortunately unprepared.
But enough complaining: would I participate in Elements Music again?
It was definitely my favorite little vacation this summer, and I didn’t even have to leave NEPA to revel in something you can’t get anywhere else. I’ve made so many wonderful connections with so many other lovely people from all over the country (and beyond). I danced in a treehouse, rode a cat, had my tarot cards read, discovered new music and wore what I wanted. . . And all this in a single day!
Elements is, in fact, a festival of seeing and believing, and it takes place here, in our garden, every summer.
