Elon Musk called Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey after learning that his account had been hacked

A leading company focused on virtual transformation.

When Elon Musk’s Twitter account was hacked as a component of a coordinated attack on dozens of high-level accounts on July 15, billionaire Tesla spoke directly to twitter CEO.

Accounts belonging to dozens of celebrities and public figures, including Musk, Barack Obama, Joe Biden and Kim Kardashian West, tweeted a Bitcoin scam, promising subscribers that if they sent a Bitcoin wallet, the celebrity would send twice the amount.

In an interview with the New York Times released Saturday, Musk, a prolific Twitter user with about 37 million fans, described how he learned about the hacking and called Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey.

“Within a few minutes of the post coming up, I immediately got texts from a bunch of people I know, then I immediately called Jack so probably within less than five minutes my account was locked,” he said.

Musk also told The Times that he was not feeling well when the attack occurred.

“I think I had food poisoning or something like that, so you vomit incredibly violently with food poisoning,” he says. “So I had a little health for a long time, taking over Twitter. But I think it’s smart to take a few breaks on Twitter anyway and not be there 24 hours a day. Twitter can disturb your mind.”

Twitter decided that hackers could see personal messages from 36 of the 130 accounts involved.

When asked if he feared that the hackers might have noticed his personal messages, Musk did not seem upset.

“I’m not very involved in my DM going public,” he told The Times. “I mean, we can probably some of my DMs that sound bad out of context, however, in general, my DMs are more commonly about exchanging memes.”
