Faye Tozer over setting a record after claims about Giovanni Pernice: ”We’re solid”

Faye Tozer, 44, who has been married to Michael Smith for nine years, said she and her husband were “solid” after claims circulated that they “could have connected” while partnering with Strictly Come Dancing professional Giovanni Pernice at the BBC festival in 2018. Steps’ former star said it’s not the first time she and Michael have been away from each other.

Faye, who peaked at Strictly with Giovanni two years ago, spoke about their marriage in an interview in December 2018.

The singer in the past told The Sun: “We’ve been married for nine years and we’ve worked apart from each other.

“I’ve turned.

“The fact that he’s in Strictly doesn’t replace anything for us. We’re strong.”

He went on to chat, “As long as we knew we were strong at home, everything was fine.”

This came after Giovanni and Faye were photographed having lunch together to celebrate their 43rd birthday.

Former professional dancer Gleb Savchenko said Giovanni and Faye “may have met” when he said that between them “could happen.”

Giovanni denied his comments and told The Sun: “This is total and absolute nonsense. No one why Gleb says things like that.

Faye continued to communicate about her “real” marriage to her husband.

“I think it depends on individual couples, for us, we have a genuine marriage,” he said.

“We have our ups and downs like everyone else and I communicate is the key and I guess to be supportive.

As Faye and Giovanni made their way to the strict final, Steps’ star faced a complicated circle of relatives at home, as her mother, Dorothy, was diagnosed with level 3 breast cancer.

She said hello! Magazine last year: “While I was dressed in glitter, Mom dressed in a bloodless hat. He put everything in perspective.

“If I had a bad day, I knew Mom lived a lot longer.

Faye went on to reveal why she had talked about her mother’s illness until then.

The BBC’s favourite revealed: “It’s Mom’s trip, not mine.

“I didn’t need other people to feel sorry for me or ask me how I am because it’s not about me.

“I wanted to get on with my job, and Mom wanted it too. She’s incredibly positive.

Faye, fortunately, explained her mum was “out of the other side” after completing the majority of her treatment.

Faye, Jamie Theakston, Ben Cohen and Sara Pascoe will enjoy tonight’s ITV celebrity special on ITV, which will air from 5:30 p.m.
