Hello friends! Reef to fox here with their weekly “Reef Report. “Last week, Pawsitive Beginnings celebrated its fourth anniversary as a nonprofit. My mom, founder Nicole Navarro, had some exciting news to share on our social media pages, and if I missed her, I’ll let Mom handle this report. I guess it deserves to be highlighted once a year.
Four years ago, I had the idea that one day I could offer a permanent sanctuary to foxes rescued from fur farms here in the United States. Today, this concept has a project that goes far beyond the fight against the fur trade. .
Like the movie “The Field of Dreams,” which happens to be one of my all-time favorites, for the past four years, out of nowhere, a concept came to me that is so far-fetched that it may not be. All odds work, but I accept it as true with my instincts and let it go; And it works.
I recently came up with the idea of creating an area in the sanctuary that therapists and counselors can use for off-site sessions with their clients before or after visiting the foxes as part of our animal-assisted treatment program. I didn’t know how I was going to fund this project, but I knew I had to.
A few weekends ago, we gained a stopover in an out-of-town person who believes in this concept as much as I do, and Pawsitive Beginnings won a very generous donation that will fund the entire structure of this space. The workplace will still need to be outfitted once it’s complete, I’m sure that budget will come. We will begin transforming and redesigning an existing room in the sanctuary into this special “healing lair” next month.
On this very special anniversary for the foxes and me, I need to thank you for helping me make my dreams come true. We wouldn’t be where we are today without the unwavering we’ve gained from this amazing community.
