Government cyber defense program includes ‘smart mechanisms’ that will ‘change the rules of the game’

Katherine Mansted, cyber intelligence director at CyberCX, says the government’s cyber defense program has “intelligent mechanisms” that will be a “game changer” in preventing attacks.

Mansted spoke to Sky News Australia to discuss how businesses will need to remain vigilant against attacks in an ever-changing cyber environment.

“I think it’s an ambitious vision and a lot of it wants to be implemented in the next few years,” he said.

“But as I said, there are structural adjustments that have made some of the things that we communicate about in this industry buzzwords: data sharing, public-private partnerships, for example, Array

“There are some clever methods and mechanisms in this package that are going to be a real game-changer for some of them. . . for example, setting mandatory criteria for our internet items and devices, those reasonable little client devices that we all use and historically don’t use, I have no knowledge of cybersecurity.
