Hank Williams Jr. ‘s wife, Mary Jane Thomas, died after elective cosmetic surgery, Palm Beach County medical examiner’s reports reveal.

Thomas, 58, traveled from Tennessee to Florida to undergo liposuction and a procedure to remove old breast implants with a breast lift at Bafitis Plastic Surgery in Jupiter, according to researchers in documents received through USA TODAY.

The singer’s wife was released from the hospital on March 21 and taken to a hotel to recover. On March 22, he suddenly stood motionless, according to the report. Thomas was taken to Jupiter Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead in the emergency room.

The autopsy decided that she died of a lung collapse when she underwent the operation. His death was described as accidental.

In June 2020, the couple’s 27-year-old daughter, Katherine Williams, died in a twist of automotive fate in Henry County, Tennessee. Katherine was driving an SUV towing a boat when it crossed the median and overturned.

Williams Jr. and Thomas also have a son, Samuel Williams. Williams Jr. has three children from previous marriages: Hank Williams III, Holly Williams and Hilary Williams.

In March, Samuel Williams paid tribute to his mother in an interview with People.

“My expensive mom, Mary Jane, was a lovely soul who marked each and every one of those who knew her. She had a smile and a presence that lit up each and every room and never met a stranger she hadn’t befriended. His spirit was gentle and generous.  You can win ten numbers and prepare dinner for your grandchildren at the same time! Now she can radiate from above with my sister Katherine Diana through her side,” she shared.

Hank Williams Jr. , 73, is the son of country legend Hank Williams. The “Family Tradition” singer married Thomas in 1990.
