High-income earners show a greater propensity to agree with the growing importance of travel (44%) than other groups and sit well above the global average of all income groups (35%) in terms of the significance they place on this activity, according to a report by YouGov. The study defines the high-income demographic as those who earn higher than 200% of the median.
There is another key segment that the global report believes will be a key player in the long term of luxury: high-income teams between the ages of 18 and 34 (i. e. , the wealthy youth). This organization emphasizes the importance of having even more in the post-pandemic era than all thriving consumers (54% vs. 44%).
“Wealthy young people are prioritizing travel, as are travelers from older generations,” says Ashley Ganz, founder and CEO of luxury travel company Artisans of Leisure. “Lately, older, affluent travelers are prioritizing travel because travel is an investment in themselves, their families, their friendships, and their overall lifestyle. Young, affluent travelers feel the same way. Wealthy young people have grown up as part of a generation, especially during and after the pandemic, that has more flexibility for a hybrid or fully remote lifestyle, allowing them to travel more and have more opportunities. Inspiration to travel through social media and a greater emphasis on non-public interests and knowing one’s own lifestyle.
