Houston named rudest city in Texas, according to one travel site

Here’s one top spot Houstonians are sure to question whether their city deserved: travel website Alot Travel recently ranked Houston as the rudest city in Texas.

An article from the site highlighting the rudest city in every state gave Houston top honors in Texas.

The math has to be wrong, or they must have their facts mixed up because Houston is definitely not the rudest town in the state, which I’m pretty sure many Houstonians will back me up on.

“What’s there not to love about Houston? There’s millions of people crammed into one hot, humid place. The traffic is so bad that it’s recommended you don’t drive,” wrote the site as its reasoning for choosing Houston.

Going strictly off those factors, yes, I have to agree our traffic is one of the worst, making for some irritable drivers at times, and we can go through all four seasons in one day— with hot and humid on speed dial most days.

But when you look at the grand scheme of things, we offer up some of the best southern hospitality around and have a proven track record as being #HoustonStrong, especially during a crisis like the current pandemic or Hurricane Harvey.

Some of the cities listed as being the rudest in other states include some familiar names, and others you would be just as shocked to find on a list like this.

For instance, Los Angeles was listed as California’s rudest city. “Maybe they’re rude because they are focused on making their big break,” wrote Alot Travel.

New York City made the list, but they’re no strangers to being considered rude. The Big Apple is famous for it, you might say.

“Cut ‘em some slack, though. They’re probably just stressed about making rent for their way-too-expensive closet-sized apartment,” Alot Travel quipped.

Here’s one that might also be a shock to see: the city of Waianae in Hawaii. How can anyone be rude in Hawaii?

Noted as having one of the worst crime rates, according to Alot Travel, “petty theft is pretty rude,” making this a prime reason for its being on the list.
