Welcome to the ESPN India blog, where our purpose is to bring you all the news from the colorful world of Indian sports: from the wide variety of Olympic sports to franchised leagues.
In May, there’s a lot of sports action, which you can watch on the ESPN India sports calendar.
India’s defense of its Thomas Cup name came to an early end when the men lost to China 1-3 in the quarterfinals yesterday. India got off to a bad start by squandering the first two matches of the draw, which was a rematch of the Asian Games final (which China had won 3-2). Lakshya Sen gave India some hope by beating the No. 6 world Li Shi Feng in the third match, but it did not replace the luck of the final champions. More on that here. The inexperienced women’s team saw their crusade cut short as they were also defeated by Japan in the quarterfinals.
Today is a pretty quiet time, only the IPL takes place. However, we will have an investigation of India’s exit from the Thomas and Uber Cups, with also the preparation for the ISL final.
IPL: Mumbai Indians host the Kolkata Knight Riders in a successful competition. What happened yesterday?
Badminton: India’s promising run at the Uber Cup ended with a 3-0 loss to Japan in the quarter-finals.
