Count late-night TV show host Jimmy Kimmel (and his audience in the studio) among those wondering a recent Preply report that concluded that Columbus citizens swear an average of 36 times a day, making it the most sworn American city.
During his monologue Thursday night on ABC “Jimmy Kimmel Live!,” Kimmel expressed confusion that cities like New York and Chicago are among the 10 most sensible cities that say the most swearing. In fact, New York and Chicago are tied for fourth place with the fewest U. S. swearing. U. S. peoples
“I don’t know. We just spent a week in New York,” he joked, saying he thought even a pigeon was cursing him there.
The late-night host looked at Columbus, which the Buckeye state capital, according to Preply’s report, looks like “a Quentin Tarantino movie. “
The research is based on self-reported results, meaning that citizens of U. S. cities surveyed were asked to estimate how many times a day they swore on average, whether at home, at work, with friends, etc.
Preply, a language learning app and online learning platform, surveyed over 1500 citizens from 30 major U. S. cities. In the US, precisely a massive sample.
“It was a phone survey, so I guess a lot of curses happened when the pollsters called dinner to ask, ‘How many times do you swear?'” joked Kimmel.
