Janelle Monáe didn’t make her musical comeback this week with her new single, “Float,” but she made her NBA All-Star Celebrity Game debut last night (February 17).
Monáe is part of Dwyane Wade’s Celebrity All-Star team this year, between Simu Lu and Alex Toussaint. While Monáe is a force in both music and film, it turns out that basketball is not one of her strengths.
During the match, Monáe played in defense against his counterpart, while his team possessed the ball in attack. At one point, Wade heard Monáe say, “When we’re here, I want you to be in a position to score,” according to Rolling Stone.
But overall, it turns out that Monáe was in a good mood after the attack and even laughed smartly about the total test.
“I excluded myself from my team as a kid (traumatic!) And now I laugh,” Monáe said in a tweet after the match.
