“I didn’t need the headlines to be like that, and I didn’t need the e-book to be about that,” Stamos said. “It’s a page or something, but I felt like I had to communicate it. It’s strange. It’s anything. ” I think I was probably 10 or 11 [when it happened]. I shouldn’t have had to deal with those feelings. “
Now that he’s a father himself, Stamos has been thinking about how he would handle the situation if his son Billy was sexually abused as a child.

“I’ll tell them that if I find out that someone did this to my son,” Stamos said, “it’s a whole different story. “
Stamos told People that it’s vital for him to be absolutely transparent about the ups and downs of his life when writing “If You Told Me. “
“I set out to write a story of heroes, when I did it I thought, ‘No, I’m going to tell a human story,'” the actor explained. “Because with the story of heroes, it’s. . . “

Stamos, who is a recovering alcoholic, said he struggled to deal with his lingering emotions about separation while following Alcoholics Anonymous’ twelve-step program.
“In retrospect, I talk about this [in the book], because that’s one of the stages of A. A. where the fourth step is to expose all your grievances, everything that other people have done to you. “
Through this process, she was able to recognize that she had “a role” to play in the end of her first marriage.
“You start thinking, it’s like, ‘Oh, she’s not the devil. Maybe I’m to blame like she is. ‘”

The former soap opera star said she thought Romijn “tried to do paintings because she cared about him” before their divorce.
“It’s very public and very painful. I haven’t written much about it, but it’s hard,” he said.
“That was the opinion she left me because her career was going well and mine wasn’t, and that’s humiliating,” Stamos added. “I don’t blame him. It was just the belief other people had, and maybe they weren’t wrong. She was doing very well at the time and I wasn’t.

Romign, 50, married actor Jerry O’Connell in 2007 and the couple has two daughters, Charlie and Dolly, 13.
Stamos also talked about his struggle with alcohol and his life after being sober. He was charged with driving in 2015 and went to rehab (Corey Nickols/Getty Images for IMDb).
In “If You Told Me,” Stamos detailed his struggle with alcohol addiction and talked about reaching his lowest point when he was arrested for driving under the influence in 2015.
“I had to sober up. I just drank too much,” Stamos told People. “I just went down. I didn’t pass over. I just surrounded myself with other people I shouldn’t have been with. “
In June 2015, Stamos was arrested in Beverly Hills after police won a call from a witness who said he saw the actor driving irregularly. After being arrested, Stamos was taken to the hospital and photos of the star in handcuffs appeared in several tabloids.
“I got that DUI and I thought, ‘I can’t do this. I’ve got to straighten myself out,'” Stamos recalled. That’s when I confuse the universe because I’m not a bad person, and I still do shitty things. “
After his arrest, Stamos enrolled in a rehab center, which he said “was a little dark for a while. “
However, he recalled that his time in rehab “started to get better” and that he eventually “made a lot of smart friends. “

“I had a lot of things waiting for me and I feel bad because a lot of other people don’t, because they burned their lives,” she said of her exit from rehab. “Luckily I had my sisters, but I still had ‘Fuller House. ‘I got here and I think a week later we had “Fuller House. “
Stamos credited Caitlyn and Billy for helping him stay sober over the years.
“They kept me on this path because to get sober and take care of yourself, everyone tries. Everyone does it. You might be there for a while. Then it’s like, ‘I can drink again,'” she said.
“So staying on track is what they most commonly do for me,” Stamos added.

When asked if he’s had any “hiccups” on his path to sobriety, Stamos told the outlet that “it’s been pretty good. “
“It’s hard, but it’s not because it’s hard for a lot of people,” he said. “It’s not that hard for me because it’s still so new to my brain that all I have to do is look at this picture. “of me handcuffed on this street. “
“I’m sitting on a sidewalk or whatever. Right now it makes me throw up just thinking about it,” Stamos explained.
“Never again. “
In his memoir, Stamos claimed to have discovered that his then-girlfriend, Teri Copley, was cheating on him with Tony Danza, according to an excerpt from the e-book received through Entertainment Weekly.
Stamos recalled that he fell in love with the model and actress shortly after they met in the 1980s.

Maybe it will happen for the rest of my life. “Who knows if I’ll ever find love again? Why not give it a try?”
After the couple dated for more than a year, Stamos recalled that Copley would get farther away when he went out of town “to do car shows and concerts. “

“I call her from the road, but the woman who picked up the phone after a call, out of breath, now gives me signs and tones of busy,” he recalls. “When I get home, I call him all day and in “There was no answer. That’s strange. We went from a verbal telephone exchange every few hours to silence. “
Although he initially assumed she was busy with audition and modeling work, Stamos became concerned after not hearing from her for a while.
Stamos recalled making the decision to drive to his home in the San Fernando Valley, where he saw that “there were no lights on” and “the windows weren’t moving. “
However, the actor saw an unknown car parked in Copley’s driveway. “A black 1957 Porsche 356 Speedster, a convertible antiguo. Étrange. Je escorts me into the car, strapped in, and I take a quick look inside,” Stamos wrote.
He continued, “There’s a hairbrush, keys, boxing gloves and a half-rolled poster of my girlfriend, naked, lightly covered by a white sheet. Half of her buttocks are visible. I’ve never noticed this poster before. “
According to EW, Stamos wrote that after discovering that the front and back doors were locked, he went to the guest house, where he and Copley were sleeping.

“The blinds are closed, but the door is ajar,” he recalls. “I look inside and see 4 feet sticking out of the chic floral print duvet that once kept me warm. My Tiny Dancer is in bed with Mr. Porsche Speedster. They’re sleeping. I can’t tell you who it is. ” Yes, I still recognize the. . . Teri lightly covered between the sheets. It looks like their new poster. “
Describing the discovery as his “worst nightmare,” Stamos recalled that he had tried to “hold back tears. “
“Time slows down until I freeze,” he continued. I can’t breathe. A few tears roll down my face and it bothers me. They snap me out of my dizziness and I feel confused. Maybe it will just explode. “
It wasn’t until Stamos, on his way home, listening to Elton John, learned “my rival’s name. “”Hold me closer, Tony Danza,” Stamos wrote in his memoir. (Donaldson Collection/Michael Ochs Archives/Getty Images)
Stamos recalled that he didn’t know how to take care of the boy who was in bed with Copley. “Do I pull him out of bed by his hair, kick him in the balls and hit him?” she remembers wondering. “She’s my girlfriend. Whose piece is that?Looks familiar. Happy bastard. He rolls around, exposing his six-pack abs and muscular body. “
Stamos wrote that in the end he opted to “run like hell” as “it was not the time or position to save an ego that is being torn down. “However, he revealed that he took the Copley sign in the car earlier. “I look at the two-dimensional, half-clothed woman I thought I knew. “
“She signed the sign, with little hearts, ‘My dear Tony, I will love you forever. Who the hell is Tony?”
Stamos wrote that “my rival’s name” came up while walking around the house listening to Elton John.
“Hold me closer, Tony Danza,” he recalled.

It wasn’t all bad blood, though. According to EW, in another excerpt from Stamos’ memoir, the actor attributes “Who’s the boss?”helping his own show “Tres por tres” gain a steady audience in its first season.
“If you had told me the day I walked into that room and tucked my true love into bed with a guy, what about his Who’s the Boss display?I would have made Full House a genuine success, becoming a household name. . . “Stamos shared. ” Well, what can I say? Thank you, Tony Danza. “
