Joseph Gordon-Levitt celebrates his older brother’s birthday 10 years after his death.
The 39-year-old actor paid tribute to his brother, Dan, on what would have been his birthday on Monday.
“Today is my brother Dan’s birthday,” Gordon-Levitt wrote in a tweet. “He and I @hitrecord in combination a long time ago. We all miss him, ten years since his death.”
He continued: “I love seeing art through it. Draw it, write about it, communicate about it, whatever. Post here – “
Gordon-Levitt included a blog post on the hitRECord online page in which he encouraged others who knew his brother to contribute stories, photos and videos about him. The brothers co-founded the media platform in 2005.
“We have carried out several projects in honor of my brother here at hitRECord over the years. But there is no general position to achieve something,” the actor wrote on the website.
“You may have a story about a delight in which you and he have lived together. Maybe you have pictures you took of him,” he continued. “Maybe you drew it or something. People post things like that on their Facebook page, but there’s a place on HITRECORD.

He added: “As today, July 27th is his birthday, I think it would be a good day to start. We may be able to create an eBook from the elements of this page. Or maybe a documentary. But whatever’s longer – With goals like that, I just need there to be a position where we’re going to gather a lot of things about it. Excelsior!
Dan worked as an arts teacher at Flow Temple School of arts in Venice Beach, California, before his death in October 2010. He was 36.
At that point, he discovered him unconscious in his Hollywood home and was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. The cause of death has not been made public.
