“‘Bring to God your supplications and thanksgiving,’ says St. Paul. ‘Then the peace of God will remain in your center and in your mind. . . and will continue to do the things you see in me. ‘(Philippians 4:6,7
“Of course, the ‘I’ in this prayer is Paul himself. But it is only worth following Paul because it follows Jesus. And it is worth following Jesus because Jesus shows us who God is and what our humanity can be. And there are many events in the Gospels when we see Jesus himself, faithful to his vocation, to put as a healer so that he can be informed in the way of God.
“‘I do what I see the Father doing,'” Jesus says (see John 5:19).
“‘He is the center of God,'” says St. John (cf. Jn 1:18).
“Sometimes if the total Christian religion is greater understood as an invitation to live in it ourselves.
“And the goal of the Christian religion is to know and do the will of God.
“We gather with wonderful joy to celebrate Her Majesty the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, but we are doing so against a backdrop of suffering and uncertainty in our world.
“For me, leaders – like Paul, like Jesus – are the ones who know how to let themselves be guided. People who lead for others, not for themselves. , who do not seek to do everything by themselves, or do not act with their own strength, other people who see beyond, and who seek places of healing, even places where they can only be informed of the idea of Christ.
And I say this today, knowing that in Her Majesty the Queen we see an example of this kind of service; unwavering fidelity and unwavering coherence; a fidelity to God, an obedience to a vocation that is the foundation of his life.
“No, the basis is not the right picture.
“Faith in Jesus Christ is a source and it is a well.
“It is the well from which we draw deeply and reconstitute all the challenges, joys and vicissitudes of life.
“And it is a fountain, overflowing with immense joy. Joy, because we may live in the security of being loved; joy, because God has a goal for our lives; and joy, for through the death and resurrection of Christ there is the promise of eternal life.
“It is well known that Her Majesty loves horse racing. I don’t have a smart recommendation for tomorrow’s Derby, but since Scripture describes life as a race unfolding before us, let me practice that his long reign reflects Aintree’s distance more than Epsom’s sprints. It is true that less education than most people imagine. But with perseverance, through moments of change and challenge, of joy and sadness, she continues to offer herself to the service of our country and the Commonwealth. Your Majesty, we regret that you are not with us this morning in person, yet you are still in the saddle. And we are all satisfied that even more will come.
“So, thank you for staying the course. Thank you for continuing to deliver on the promises you made 70 years ago. Thank you for showing us how much service and loyalty matter. People of all religions and no one can be informed of them. “.
“Sometimes other people tell me that the Christian religion is just an accessory. You may not agree more. I am not ashamed to say that I depend on Jesus Christ, that I try to live close to His heart. That I want your wisdom and hope. And if you forgive such a presumption, I see that in you too.
“And to the other people of our wonderful nation, I say this: In fact, we are living in a time of uncertainty and challenge, and we would do well to think about where we will locate the replenishment we need.
“What I see in Her Majesty the Queen is someone who has religiously served our country through her religion in Jesus Christ. There would possibly be no better way to celebrate his platinum jubilee than by doing the same thing ourselves.

“Certainly less education than most people imagine.
“But with perseverance, through moments of change and challenge, of joy and sadness, he continues to offer himself to the service of our country and the Commonwealth.
“Your Majesty, we are sorry that you are not with us this morning in person, but you are still in the saddle. And we are all satisfied that there is more to come.
