Katy Perry says having a full-time pregnancy makes her more independent

Katy Perry has given us the blessing of being 200% fair when it comes to her pregnancy so far: the good, the bad and the ugly. And the star admitted she had more than a little anxiety about being pregnant with her fiancé Orlando Bloom’s bathroom. In the midst of a pandemic, it turns out that the singer has discovered peace by doing what she loves most. Perry promoted the upcoming Smile album, sharing bacheme photographs and giving interviews about the writing process. And it turns out that going back to her flash painting schedule was precisely what the mother-to-be needed to feel more independent in her newly pregnant body.

During The SiriusXM Celebrity Session with Katy Perry, the singer explained how her pregnancy had fostered new confidence and admiration for what her body could do, and how she would make sure to convey this message to her unborn child.

“I feel very empowered to create a life and be a woman who works while doing this,” Perry told listeners Perry. “I mean … can you create members while you sell a record? I feel good, I feel like I have a lot of energy, I feel blessed with my structure and I have a lot of love for what I do.

It’s this feeling that surrounds one of Smile’s tracks titled “What Makes a Woman,” a song Perry says is “secretly” for her daughter.

“The last song on my album that comes out on August 28 is a song called “What Makes a Woman”… it’s a song about how you’re going to have trouble measuring what it really does to a woman, because women are so many things,” Perry explained. “These chameleons, so adaptable, so malleable and transformative, can withstand the weight of the global on their backs and do everything with heels and make it quite easy.

Love that! While everyone expects an exclusive pregnancy experience, we’re excited that Perry has found a balance that works for her, and has found that she appreciates women’s strength in doing so much.
