Killer fabric comes to life in Justin Simien’s first hair trailer

A young woman struggles with notions of the good looks of society in the first sneak peek of Justin Simien’s new horror film (Dear White People) Bad Hair, which arrives in Hulu this fall.

Set in 1989 in Los Angeles, the reflection-inviting film follows Anna Bludso (Elle Lorraine), who hopes to scale the ladder of the television exhibition of black music videos for which she works. To her dismay, her new boss, played by Vanessa Williams, strongly hints that she wants a fabric if you ever want to go into the air. Unfortunately, the one Anna gets turns out to be a killer tissue.

“It’s wonderful for your solar hours race, however, there’s a hidden toll to pay at night,” Simien told EW in January before the film’s release at Sundance. “It’s a mental social mystery that’s an observation about American delight and the kind of silent little deaths we all have to suffer to move forward and be noticed in society at large.”

The film stars Lena Waithe, Jay Pharoah, Kelly Rowland, Laverne Cox, Blair Underwood, Usher Raymond IV and Chanté Adams.

Bad Hair makes his debut on 23 October in Hulu.
