Live returns to Red Rocks, with more to come

MORRISON, Colo. – For the first time in 135 days, a live concert performed at Red Rocks, while the Colorado Symphony was conducting itself in front of a small crowd socially away from the famous amphitheatre.

To comply with public fitness ordinances, the symphony sold 175 tickets for its acoustic performance, requiring all visitors and artists to wear masks and remain socially distant.

“We need to show other people that this can be done safely because we need to do more,” said Anthony Pierce of the Colorado Symphony in Denver7.

It is the first legal concert in Colorado in months due to the pandemic, and enthusiasts were eager to return to the live music scene.

“It’s like an eternity, ” said one spectator.

“The opportunity to listen to music in this position means more than anything to me,” another added.

It is the first of five performances scheduled for the Symphony at Red Rocks. All the exhibits are sold out, given the few tickets.

“There’s a huge demand for live music now, we’re doing everything we can to satisfy it,” Pierce said. “We want to show other people that this can be done safely.”

A spokesman told Denver7 that “Film on the Rocks” will soon be a drive-in in the parking lot and that a series of concerts and live broadcasts will soon be announced for August and September. “Yoga on the Rocks” will continue with the fitness challenge “Quarantine 15”.
