LSU coach Brian Kelly speaks out for the first time after the death of player Kyren Lacy.
“Kyren was a shining star,” Kelly shared a press convention Tuesday, April 15 to TMZ. “He had an incredible personality. I won’t forget him as someone who had a love for the game, a love for being a tiger and he was a guy who played with wonderful emotion. “
Kelly, who has been LSU’s football coach since 2022, noted that when other people think of the wide receiver of the past, “they’re going to smile the most of the time because of the way he treated himself. “
“He’s a full energy guy,” he added.
While some of the players were scheduled to meet with the media after Tuesday’s practice, Kelly replaced them because he sought to give the players more time after Lacy’s death on Saturday, April 12.
“Everybody on our team, in a way, has had a date in other grades with Kyren,” the coach explained. “Everybody will deal with it differently, so he doesn’t perceive it.
Lacy’s family showed the LSU wide receiver’s death to the Louisiana Local WAFB Nine on Sunday, April 13, with no main point on his cause of death given at the time.

The deputies then claimed that Lacy refused to prevent, initiating a “prosecution of automobiles [that] had taken its position extending for several miles” and ended with an accident.
