Max just won the most productive action movie of 2024, and it has a 90% on Rotten Tomatoes

I’m not really someone who watches action movies, but when I find one that really surprises me, I’ll never watch it. One of those gems includes “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga,” an epic, dystopian action film that absolutely blew my mind when I saw it in theaters a few months ago. It’s safe to say that I left the theater convinced that I had just seen the most productive action movie of the year.

“Furiosa” is a prequel to “Mad Max: Fury Road,” which focuses on the origin story of the fierce warrior Furiosa. The film follows his adventure from captivity to becoming a key figure in the war against tyrannical warlord Immortan Joe, set against a backdrop of non-stop post-apocalyptic action. So, as you can imagine, the concept of seeing it again, this time in the comfort of my own home, is too clever to pass up.

Now that I got to one of the streaming services, I knew I had to plunge back into chaos. And let me tell you, “Furiosa” is not only a wonderful action movie, but also the action movie of 2024. Here’s why you want to stream it right now on Max.

For those who haven’t seen “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga” in theaters, here’s a brief summary of what it’s about.

The film delves into the origins of the iconic character Furiosa (Anya Taylor-Joy), who has become a fan favorite in “Fury Road. ” This prequel takes us back to the beginning, exploring how young Furiosa (Alyla Browne) was taken from her homeland as a child and thrown into a brutal, war-torn world ruled by warlords. wild. We witness her harrowing adventure of survival and resilience as she navigates through a dystopian landscape filled with fatal enemies and ruthless factions.

Unfortunately, Furiosa’s trail leads her into the clutches of Dr. Dementus (Chris Hemsworth), a tough leader who controls gigantic spaces of wasteland and needs to regain the fuel supply. Immortan Joe (Lachy Hulme), another tough figure, triggers an ongoing relationship. battle, and Furiosa will have to endure many hardships as she finds her way home.

If a movie had to win the ultimate “badass” crown this year, it would be “Furiosa. “It is an action film noted for its incessant and fast chase scenes and its unique dieselpunk aesthetic. But there’s one scene in particular that gave me goosebumps and the chase scene from Furiosa’s “Stowaway to Nowhere,” which features a flurry of guns, cars and death-defying explosions. I’m not going to give too much away, just know that this is my favorite scene of the entire movie. franchise.

However, I have to give Taylor-Joy’s portrayal of Furiosa credit, which is fierce and nuanced. She adds incredible intensity to her role as professional warrior and determined survivor, although she has virtually no lines in the film. Beyond the adrenaline-filled action, the film manages to balance fast-moving narrative with authentic emotion when it comes to Furiosa’s fight for freedom.

Of course, critics were also impressed with this film, giving it a top score of 90% on Rotten Tomatoes (and it deserves that score given its disappointing results).   Randy Myers of the San Jose Mercury News said, “It’s expertly shot, designed, edited and directed, and features a stack of jaw-dropping action sequences along with a steely thrilling soundtrack. ”

Meanwhile, Entertainment Weekly’s Christian Holub talked about the film’s smaller, more impressive emotional touches: “Furiosa has car chases, hordes of bikers, and fiery death, but the little moments of good looks that you couldn’t possibly find anywhere else. ” place are almost more impressive. “

If you’re looking for a movie that offers non-stop action, stunning post-apocalyptic visuals, and a gripping story with delightful moments of genuine emotion, “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga” is what you need. I will dare to say that it is more than just an “action movie”: it is a thrilling experience that will leave you breathless.
