AD PRO: Do you make pictures on paper, canvas, articles and furniture, and in indoor spaces, do you see them as a verbal exchange between them?
Alexandre Benjamin Navet: I painted on other supports: painting, cakes for frescoes or art paintings, drawings, interior ornaments for textiles or ornaments . . . Many of them join work with Van Cleef
AD PRO: How about the items or furniture you paint on?
ABN: I love the concept of maintaining a strong connection with interior design and decoration, I like objects, utilitarian objects. Books, vases, for example, and architecture are very vital in my daily life, so they are part of my artistic process.
It’s about feeling: I create the object or the furniture itself, I draw them, I organize them and I paint them or draw, I hope I can contribute something to the original object.
AD PRO: You’re for your site-specific work, what internal projects have you recently worked on?
ABN: I love to run on fresco projects on site, I recently had the opportunity to paint on a giant staircase in a dream apartment in Paris completely decorated through Pierre Yovanovitch, with my palette of bright colors, I also created an on-site fresco for the Hotel Le Lou Pinet in Saint-Tropez designed through Charles Zana, animated through the provincial drawings and colors of Saint-Tropez.
AD PRO: How does your art work in your own home?
ABN: My space and my studio are in the same building, I have worked and lived this way, I do not have many non-public works of art in my house, but I started buying and exchanging pieces by new artists that I love. . I like the concept of my workplace gradually adapting to a theatrical stage. Lately I am portraying a very colorful and decorative fresco in the workshop hallway to welcome friends, partners and collectors.

AD PRO: Your relationship with Van Cleef began several years ago, how has it evolved in this collaboration?
ABN: It’s a constant discussion between us and I felt very free to reinterpret the [brand] codes. The concept was to provide flowering flowers, but also the colors that come to life in spring. My palette is already rich, but I expanded it to create designs that are a non-public firm and the result of this collaboration with Van Cleef
AD PRO: You’re known for your vases, but you’ve never made flowers before. How did you apply the concept of filling vases?See these paintings in your own paintings once you’ve completed this task?
ABN: I’ve been drawing vases for several years, I say they’re like actors on a stage, elements of a theatrical production, but other people point out that there are never flowers in my vases, so I discovered that it was fun and engaging. space invited me to draw some, leaving a lot of room for the power of color. I’ve done a lot of studies on flowers and floral creation. Now I have a giant collection of rare books on flowers and plants. I don’t think my discussion with them is over yet.
AD PRO: What are you running into now?
ABN: I just finished a mural painted in situ on the facade of a monument in Toulon, in the south of France, with La Villa Noailles, for the first time I had the opportunity to exhibit my paintings on such a gigantic scale. I enjoyed it and the audience turns out to enjoy it, so I think a lot about these kinds of projects!
