NEW YORK — The star-studded Met Gala returned Monday to the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
This year’s theme focuses on Karl Lagerfeld, the vanquished German designer known for his paintings as Chanel’s artistic director.

There was plenty of glitz and glamour when some of the biggest names in entertainment, fashion, sports and politics celebrated Monday at the annual Met Gala.
As always, the birthday party included attention-grabbing costumes.
Black-and-white dresses were the evening trend on the steps of the Met Museum, all in honor of Lagerfeld, the Chanel author from 1983 until his death in 2019.
“It’s the mix of all the glorious skills that I find and the creativity that I see and the ability to consult other people and use the platform that I’m lucky to have as productive as possible,” she told Vogue editor Anna Wintour.
