A new Netflix true crime series is set to be released exploring what is known as the ‘most famous celebrity ever charged with murder’.

Scheduled to premiere in late January and directed by Floyd Russ, Netflix is expected to “bring the story to a new generation, offering a new take on the historical process. “

Picking up about 30 years ago, this is a double homicide case in 1995 and a subsequent trial that took the world by storm with the defendant one of the most prominent men on the planet at the time.

“This is a trial that involves the most prominent celebrity ever accused of murder,” says the trailer.

Yes, of course we’re talking about the “trial of the century” and everything from the slow police pursuit of the White Bronco to the gloves, and if they’re adequate.

Another original Netflix True Crime series, American Manhunt: O. J. Simpson, will explore precisely what happened in 1995.

A trailer for the series can be noticed here:

Simpson, who died in April last year, one of the maximum noted names on the planet.

A former NFL superstar and subsequent actor, starring in The Naked Gun trilogy alongside Leslie Nielsen, his career came to an abrupt end in 1994 when he was charged with the double murder of former wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend, Ron Goldman, who were stabbed to death outside Brown’s home.

The trial, which took place in 1995 over a colossal eight month period of time, became a media sensation after being broadcast around the world.

This after Simpson, who died in April 2024, did not pass and ended up in a police chase through Los Angeles, with the former American soccer player hidden in the trunk of a white Ford Bronco.

Despite the overwhelming medical-legal evidence against Simpson, according to the accusation, he had been acquitted of the two murders in the autumn of the same year, which caused a wave of surprises in the United States and throughout the world.

“This is a story that has so many faces and so many elements that when you contextualise it historically it takes on a new form every few years,” Floyd Russ says.

The series includes new interviews with many key figures in research and trial, such as former LAPD detective Mark Fuhrman.

It also includes new conversations with several witnesses Kato Kaelin, defense and prosecution attorneys at Carl Douglas and Christopher Darden, respectively, and Goldman’s sister Kim.

Russ says: “Our interview subjects have a power to reflect in a new way with the passage of 30 years.

“Their emotions have evolved, and the way they’re able to talk about it is different than they ever have before. That sense of reflection from the people involved was apparent from the get-go, which made us feel that this story was one that needed to be told in a new and different way.”

American Manhunt: OJ Simpson will premiere on Netflix on January 29.
