I recently interviewed designer Jean Paul Gaultier (his Fashion Freak Show will take place in Brisbane in September). Charming and energetic at 72, we spoke for an hour about everything from his daily walking demeanor to his favorite runway memories and what it’s like to hang out with Madonna.

Gaultier is open and generous. She talked about how men were commodities and the respect she had for women. He spoke shamelessly about sexuality, diversity, his artistic process. How he is still obsessed with fashion and does not plan to retire completely.
