Video games, in many ways, are meant to take us to very different places and away from our harsh realities. There have been several games that have challenged this perception, most recently things like The Last of Us Part II. the maximum component, soaking up other worlds is a component of the medium.
So we’re surprised when games force us to research something about ourselves, in our genuine lives. We are even more surprised when it comes to a genre or game that we thought we knew before. Persona five Royal was this game for me and as dramatic as it sounds, it is not a euphemism to say that this game, or at least a component of it, has shaken me to the depths of my soul.
As an urban fantasy JRPG revolved around the concept of “Take the Heart” of corrupt adults, putting together its own organization of “Ghost Thieves” and rebelling against unfair social hierarchies and atrocities with concepts deeply rooted in psychology, it is simple enough to see how the game can have a more widespread appeal than others in the genre. Persona five Royal is an updated edition of the game released last March, with a new recruitable character, modifications, features and a logo, a new dungeon and an ending.
Everything at Royal is full of taste and charisma, which is why the fundamental game was a great inspiration to me about a year ago when I first played it. At the time, I had won a note from a small company looking to publish one of my short comics in an anthology. I never spoke it literally in my ramblings on this site, but I tried to write comics and graphic novels for much of my life.
After almost twenty years, he was going to get somewhere, however small. In the midst of a wave of artistic anxiety, Persona Five literally helped me refocus and motivate me not to hesitate, just do it and don’t forget what to create. It is one of the most important things that human beings can do for each other. It gave me the confidence to know that maybe I was in the right place.
That’s why it’s convenient (ironic?) That Persona five Royal has stripped me of all this trust and forced me into the abyss of consultation “what the hell have I done with my total life?”
I don’t mean that in the hyperbolic sense, those of us who play too many video games fall for it. That feeling of seeing that you spent more than two hundred hours in a game and I wonder what I just did with that time?”That’s not all. It sounded like a crushing call to my brain about the fact that running for anything my whole life might not have been worthless.
Careful, from now on, I’m going to get into massive spoilers from Persona Five Royal.
The latest dungeon, or Palace, focuses on the needs of the last confidant, Dr. Takuto Maruki, as he strives to create a very productive and just truth to fight the “unfair” truth that your characters (and by extension, players play in the style of the most productive anti-villain, not being as twisted or perverted as the maximum of the other bosses in the game , but he needs the most productive not only for him and the player’s characters, but also for the world.
Of course, their strategies for doing so are excessive to the point of alienating an audience. A career psychiatrist who has studied in intensity the “cognitive psience” of the Persona universe, Dr. Maruki establishes his ideal truth by rewriting people’s entire cognitions, nullified the most traumatic occasions of his own and leaving his dreams in his “paradise”. It makes it absolutely conscious and controlled; has never played the game of the maximum stereotypical symptoms of the “crazy” trope.
As you enter Maruki Palace, you will be increasingly informed about what happened in your life to get you to this point. There are even a number of puzzles that require you to think like Dr. Maruki if you need to complete them without incident. In this segment, there is an ideal hammered space: if your existing dream doesn’t work, it’s not worth clinging to. Why go through all this suffering and anguish if your aspirations give you nothing? Why not give up your dreams and start a new one?
This ideology is repeated once you have come to the war of Maruki’s boss, where he begs you, along with the rest of the ghost thieves, to give up what you do because you and he do the same things, but he does them a lot in To seal the deal, the call of the song that sounds during that war opposite the boss , which is very discreet compared to the rest of the jazzy poppy soundtrack, is titled “Throw Away Your Mask”. of the song, obviously in Maruki’s heart, implore the listener to abandon his dreams, to avoid seeking greatness and anything else.
Of course, being a villain and a con man besides, why give credit to this kind of process of ideas?Because of our existing scenario in the world.
A quick warning that much of the following, if not all, is anecdotal and constitutes my non-public delight in what is happening now and is probably not used as a general universal indication of any kind. It’s probably not even “unique, ” contemplating time.
I thought of myself as an author for the most part of my life. At least in the United States, the arts world is not exactly the strongest place financially. They were only given worse this year’s special hell, although art and artistic products are the ultimate. The artistic branch I tried to break into, the comics, hits the same dense brick wall as everyone else, yet the comics also drive a much smaller car that probably didn’t comply with government protection regulations in the first place.
Comic book films, homes and characters have dominated the workplace and dictated pop culture throughout this millennium. Despite this, genuine comedians have never noticed a lasting increase in their popularity or sales (although, between the beginning of this work and its publication), graphic novels would have recorded their most productive sales in 2019). Local comedian e-book stores, where many comedian e-book creators have their first chance, have been closed for dozens for several years. The move to virtual comedians has also had undeniable success. an effect on the company.
And all that before a pandemic forced everything to change.
With a publication to my credit, this year I was in a position to assemble a somewhat professional portfolio and, nevertheless, move on to a conference somewhere and review to provide the largest publishers. No, I’m not the most productive artist, until now, the company you published to me claimed that my artistic taste was anything “99% of other people would say [they] can’t draw,” but I’m looking to introduce myself as editor anyway. I had the paints and the solution (and some techniques to relieve anxiety) to immerse myself head-on in this.
Conventions are more or less where “work interviews” are in the realm of comedians and graphic novels. But once mass demonstrations began to close, conventions were one of the first things to do. Combine this with the closures of aforementioned comedian e-book stores and the stagnant comedian e-book sales, it seemed that the industry was suffering an uncontainable blow. Could the industry I’ve committed my life to not this?
Being struck in the mind by sadness and unhappiness will probably make me think of the worst even to this day, however, in the grand scheme of things, this industry and perhaps many others will not collapse, but will transform. Several conventions have already had virtual “. home consoles”, adding San Diego Comic Con to at least continue to make the joy of fans bigger. In the industry’s largest news, several publishers have stopped Diamond Publishing, which had long had a monopoly on the distribution of comedian e-books If you ask many comedian e-book owners, one of the reasons why comedian e-book outlets were final anyway (and would require a full article on the importance of such a change).
With the way things go, there has been a massive shift towards virtual dominance, which for years has been despised, however, that’s where many fans (including myself) did their best and self-publishing. Many gains from all this, relying on new or un protected creators or IPs can make it even harder to get through that door than it already was. Whether you’re looking for physics or virtual, even if there are as many paths open as before, they all seem to have been significantly reduced. This brings with it a self-destructive mind even as if you were doing something, what would you do with that? Why would you waste all this time and suffer so much?
So, call Dr. Maruki, when does he kill a dream and how can a new one begin?
There’s no answer to that. I don’t think there deserves to be any at all. To say that this is an incredibly worried hour is a euphemism that I think we have all heard of too many repeating means. Everyone understands things as they happen and the greatest convenience. A tactic with so much chaos is to give myself up to the familiar. And the most familiar things to me are video games, writing and creating comics. A few days later, it was the first time in six months I drew something. Maybe dreams, like everything, don’t die, they’re just changing.
As for The Ghost Thieves of Persona and its adventures, the game does not give a definitive answer to the concept of ‘kill your dream, start a new one’. Of course, your insurgent organization rejects Maruki’s concepts. The main objective is the tactic in which Maruki manipulates the truth itself, that is, by suppressing the will of all. The only way to save the global is to suppress yours.
My intellectual aptitude is in the gutter, my aspirations are more remote than ever and my spine and shoulders are not aligned, which causes me wonderful pain on my computer. But unless Brian Michael Bendis, Gail Simone or Gene Luen Yang rewrite my truth or take me down my throat and tell me not to do things, my will says there’s only one thing I can do and it’s moving on. I don’t know anything else. And maybe it’s sad, but I’m still sad, so they override others, right? That’s how it works.
So all that’s left is me, creating until something crushes my soul.
