Putnam County libraries offering a music and history programme, UK

The Putnam County Public Library offers special systems to its Standard and Hennepin branches.

Through Facebook Live on Tuesday, September 1 at 1:30 p.m., the library will offer For Prairie to Farm to City: Illinois History via Music. Originally developed to commemorate Illinois’ bicentennial, this music program reflects the history of Illinois, which is formed not only through the earth but also through the many cultures that have flourished there, starting with local Americans and adding the French, German and Africans. The dulcimer program includes songs about farmers, staff and staff struggles, as well as mistakes and tragedies. Featuring even a bit of blues and rock and roll, the show is an informative and entertaining look at Illinois, its history and its people. Few musicians play and sing accompanied by this appetizing instrument, whose call means “beautiful song”. Phil Passen does both.

In Hennepin, and in person, Thursday 3 September at 18: 30h. brings attractions from all over the UK to the library, zoom and Facebook. Victor Croasdale will make a presentation.

Take a wheelchair tour of the UK. Visit places like Manchester Oldham and Saddleworth, the historic ‘Huddersfield Narrow Canal’, North Wales and Angelsey, Haworth and the Bront? House, Carlisle, Hadrian’s Wall, Falkirk Wheel, Tay Bridge, Edinburgh, Forth Bridges, Newcastle, Portsmouth Hastings and the famous Battle of 1066, London and Greenwich Observatory.
