Review: He Knocked Down Eclipse Loose’s Heavy Music With “You Won’t Go Sooner Than You’re Supposed To Do”

Extreme music rarely shows its face within the mainstream, but every once in a while there’s an exception that manages to eclipse the entire heavy music scene and reach its apogee through the pop culture bubble. Knocked Loose, the metalcore band from Louisville, Kentucky, turns out to have done just that with their new album, You Won’t Go Before You’re Supposed To. Creating an album that has equivalent portions of ruthless weight and sonic grandeur is a daunting feat, and You Won’t Go Sooner Than You’re Supposed to Do is airtight in delivering those facets in its 27-minute runtime.

Jane Doe via Converge, Iowa via Slipknot and Far Beyond Driven via Pantera are 3 albums that come to mind after finding Knocked Loose’s third LP. Each of those albums set new trends for heavy music in their respective eras and, to some extent, broke through the mainstream through their relentless pursuit of extreme art. Although time will tell if Knocked Loose is capable of having the same monumental effect that we still see in Pantera and Slipknot, you won’t be going sooner than you’re supposed to. At least to play Knocked Loose in the same AAA league as this último. de heavy vehicles.

Stepping into the weeds of You Won’t Go Before You’re Supposed To, the album is largely a hit due to the way it combines total delight from start to finish. From the opening track “Thirst” to the final track “Sit Down

Although the entire album is packed with incredibly heavy riffs and awful interludes, You Won’t Go Before You’re Supposed To has a lot of nuances in the technique of the song structure. Preventive calls and fault warnings vary systematically in their configuration. and delivery. While it’s helpful that the album is 27 minutes long, the songs “Don’t Revery One For Me,” “The Calm That Keeps You Awake,” and the first single “Blinding Faith” still have others. Very catchy techniques for its heavy song structure. Even “Slaughterhouse 2,” the “sequel” to Bryan Garris’ collaboration with Motionless In White singer Chris Motionless, uses a wildly varied and relentless technique in its breakups and big choruses.

There is endless praise to be given to Knocked Loose on this album, and the band’s determination to remain heavy without sacrificing their artistic integrity is a true artistic achievement. However, You Won’t Go Before You’re Supposed To really makes you wonder. what the band could do next. It’s hard not to believe that Knocked Loose will continue to embrace their excessive facets on their upcoming releases, but it also raises the question of what other twist the band can bring to the breakups and heavy songwriting they have. Not explored yet? Either way, You Won’t Go Earlier Than Planned will be incredibly difficult to follow, not only for the band, but also for the heavy music scene as a whole.
