TORONTO, Oct. 18, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — In implementing its strategic vision of building multiple lithium converters by the end of 2030, Rock Tech Lithium Inc. (TSXV: RCK) (OTCQX: RCKTF) (FWB: RJIB) (WKN: A1XF0V) (the “Company” or “Rock Tech”) has to drive forward the manufacturing plans of its Canadian converter. Applying the engineering and planning expertise of its European converter project, the company aims to start production in 2027. To this end, Rock Tech has announced the relocation of its Canadian headquarters to the province of Ontario effective October 1, 2023.
“With more than 350,000 engineering hours and around €40 million invested, we have brought the allocation of the Guben converter in Germany to a peak of maturity. The completed core engineering for the entire converter and our global source and partners put us in a strategic position. “Excellent position to move at least 80 per cent of completed engineering to the construction of Canada’s first lithium conversion plant,” says Klaus Schmitz, Chief Operating Officer of Rock Tech.
A strategy and execution team is recently in Ontario to conclude testing of shortlisted sites in the districts of Thunder Bay, Sudbury, Nipissing, and the Leeds and Grenville regions. More than 150 variety criteria are tested on the basis of their technical and economic advantages and logistical suitability. Discussions are also underway with political actors and the government that grants licenses to perceive and respond to the interests of local communities.
“Rock Tech is a story of growth, focused on generation and sustainability. We are excited to expand our conversion footprint to our domestic market of Canada. Building on what we already did with the first studies in 2019, it’s a smart time to start. implementation,” added Dirk Harbecke, President and CEO of Rock Tech. “We are seeing a great deal of interest in our negotiations with the governments and trading partners of Canada and the U. S. “We are in the U. S. after the finishing touches on the foundational engineering paints in Guben, where we have just implemented more grants. “
In recent years, Rock Tech has assembled a team of more than 40 foreign experts, adding lithium processing specialists from Australia, commercial engineers from Germany and mining experts from Canada. The team carried out several tests with other spodumene concentrates, effectively demonstrating the processing of their own raw materials and those of third parties. In addition, 95% of Rock Tech’s end products can be used throughout the framing industry as a low-carbon option for cement and other high-value applications, making Rock Tech a long-term leader in the use of intermediates. In addition, features are being analyzed for co-location in Canada with battery recycling partners.
