WITH five children, mom Stacey Solomon knows how complicated it can be to remove duct tape stains from her furniture and walls.
But luckily, the savvy mom of five and her Sort Your Life Out team came to our rescue with a cleaning hack to remove nasty adhesive marks.
In the second episode of the first series, Stacey and her cleaning crew travelled to Wembley, north London, with her parents Bijal and Darshan.
The parents of two children desperately needed to tidy up their belongings and their home in a clutter-free space, and the feeling of cleanliness, Stacey, was there to advise the process.
The mother of five said, “Bijal and Darshan say it’s hard for them to give up everything and it’s starting to take over their lives. “
Bijal explained, “Over the years, every time we have more things to cut up, we just bring in more furniture to hide them. “
As the team dealt with the messy house, cleaning expert Iwan Carrington shared a “convenient and inexpensive” trick for stubborn adhesive brands.
Pointing to the sticky spots lining the window frame, the professional said: “It’s gotten pretty crispy, so I think I’ll break it up by softening it with something. “
But instead of regular cleaning products, Iwan took a popular condiment, a bottle of mayonnaise, and applied a “good scoop” to the brands.
The reason this crazy trick works is because mayonnaise vinegar, which is composed of acetic acid, a chemical compound that breaks down dirt.
“It’s got a lot of vinegar and that’s the vinegar that will do,” Iwan said.
According to Today’s Homeowner, creamy seasoning is also an effective home remedy for combating water stains on wooden furniture.
He explains, “The grease from the egg yolks and oil penetrate all the way through and update the moisture of the water stain.
“Meanwhile, the sweet acidity of the vinegar helps remove the stain. “
A reasonable trick is to let the mayonnaise sit on the stain overnight and then wipe it off with a blank cloth the next day.
That’s the only budget-friendly cleaning tip that was shared with viewers of the show: how to get rid of unpleasant odors and loosen food trapped in the microwave.
This trick involves heating lemon water in the microwave, as the cleaning professional joked: “It will create a great microwave sauna and make everything look great inside. It smells a lot better now. “
Using a cleaning cloth, Iwan wiped the microwave dish with the homemade mixture.
Running out of mayonnaise? Foodies (and cleanse enthusiasts) can buy this condiment in supermarkets, such as Lidl and Aldi, for 95 pence, while lemon can be bought for as little as 16 pence.
