Max, the streaming-loving kid with the forgettable call of HBO Max and Discovery, was unveiled today, carrying with him his creators’ hopes that combining the products of two streaming blockbusters will help give the studios involved and consumers a little more stability. and certainty in a turbulent and fractured streaming world.
While we’ve known for a long time that Max would launch today, however, in the past it wasn’t known that its creators planned to celebrate the launch of Max by massively expanding the amount of 4K solution content the service offers.
According to Sudheer Sirivara of Global Technology Platform, Warner Bros. Discovery, Max introduced packages for more than 1000 videos and TV episodes in 4K resolution. This equates to about 8x more 4K content than HBO Max’s previous service and includes titles like Game Of Thrones, the Harry Potter films, The Lord of the Rings trilogy, The Dark Knight trilogy, The Last Of Us and the entire Matrix series.
Max didn’t suddenly cause a 4K content frenzy just because of his heart’s goodness of image quality, it will have to be said. Naturally, we’re meant to pay for our 4K TV privilege, as Max’s pricing design introduces an Ultimate tier that costs $20 per month and includes support for 4K video quality (and Dolthrough Vision HDR) among its exclusive attractions. So it makes sense to trap consumers into getting the highest subscription by providing as much 4K content as possible.
In fact, Max claims in its press release about today’s release that, by uploading the more than 1000 4K titles available out of the box, the service will upload more 4K content month after month to make this Ultimate point even more appealing. This bonus content will come with 4K versions of all Warner Bros. videos. launched in 2023 and beyond.
While there’s possible there’s a falsified financial explanation for why Max’s big 4K boost is also, of course, great objective news for AV fans. .
Early reports from the trusted “eyes” of the AV network recommend that the quality of Max’s 4K content be forged as well, especially since the main solution is subsidized through the exclusive at the Ultimate level for the premium Dolthrough Vision HDR format (which adds more scenes).
