Sue Barker criticizes A Question of Sport by saying that the screen has highlighted the guests

There’s little of Sue Barker logging into A Question of Sport those days.

The former presenter revealed in her new e-book that she doesn’t think celebrities will appear on screen, which can be noted as an excavation in her replacement, Paddy McGuinness.

Sue says: “I’m surprised the BBC doesn’t believe that sports stars are big enough names to host a programme.

“It’s about sport. The key is in the title.

“It’s essentially a sports contest that’s a family entertainment circle.

“It’s soft entertainment with a sports theme. “

Sue later admitted on Calling The Shots, which ran yesterday, that it only grudgingly subsidized the addition of celebrity visitors to the Christmas specials.

But since Paddy took over, non-sports stars have participated, news anchor Naga Munchetty, Radio One DJ Jordan North and Strictly’s Anton Du Beke.

Since Sue left the screen after 24 years after a questionable overhaul of the series, ratings have plummeted.

The Sun revealed earlier this month that recent ratings had fallen to 850,000, an all-time low, while Sue, along with former captains Phil Tufnell and Matt Dawson, attracted four to 6 million.
